I am referring to the Garmin’s AP command and the “CONTROL AIRCRAFT” found in the “AI COMMAND” menu when flying. They would both look like Autopilot.
If I am clear enough on how AP works, I am confused about the other. The tests I do are disturbed by the slow feedback.
Thanks

This one is simple.
AP is a system in the aircraft that controls the flight surfaces, and sometimes throttle, based on selections entered into the autopilot interface. Select the altitude and heading and the AP will follow that until turned of or given new instructions. An over simplification no doubt but gives you the basic idea.
The “Control Aircraft” option is not a part of the aircraft, but a feature of the sim. It provides a ‘Virtual Co-pilot’ that attempts to fly the aircraft for you. The ‘Co-pilot’ can fly from take-off to touchdown if a flightplan has been created and entered into the aircrafts navigation system.
Sadly, the ‘virtual co-pilot’ in MSFS has been programmed with a personality. Depending on the flight he may be catatonic, disobedient or on some occasions suicidal. I am being a bit “tongue in cheek” here but suffice it to say, “Use Otto at your own risk”.
Thanks.
Incredible speed of the comprehensive answer (did you already have it ready ??? )

Late in the game when they gave them 2-3 hours instruction and many of them “failed to find the target” and went home, or just got lost and crashed into the sea. Sound like our Otto?
