How do I identify airports with gates for Heavy aircraft such as the B787 or B747?

I arrive at an “International” airport with 12,000 + runways and yet there is no option to request “taxi to the gate”. The most likely cause I have found on the forums and searches is that the airport doesn’t have gates large enough for the aircraft. I fly the B 787 mostly. Is there a way to determine if an airport has enough large gates when flight planning? Thanks!

You can use LittleNavMap.

Here. in the Parking section. There is heavy available in LAX

Thanks so much Zeke12587. I’ll try LittleNavMap.

Is anyone aware of anywhere in MSFS 2020 that gives this type of info? Thanks!

MSFS does not have detailed gate information like you are asking about. Little nav map, navigraph, or other charting products would show that level of detail.

If you select an airport in the world map you can use the drop-down at the top to select a gate. You don’t need to actually select one, just scroll through the list and check for any marked heavy.

Thanks all, I’m having better luck now getting a Heavy gate. While I use navigraph and simbrief and now little navmap too, these were good solutions but RagingWombat839’s method is built right into MSFS 2020 so I gave him the solution. Thanks again for all your help. See you in the sky!

I think the question should be, why don’t airports that support “heavies” irl show heavy gates in msfs?

Hi @TheFakeCake1374, & welcome to the forums :slightly_smiling_face:

Virtually all airports in MSFS are procedurally-created. Only a very few are hand-crafted. The procedurally-created airports are only as good as the available data for each airport. Have a look at this post:

and @CharlieFox00’s post that I referenced.
