Boy, and to think I used to sit at 7% for 10 minutes or more every session for years and years loading photoscenery.
My opinion is my business. This is a forum, named so because itās a place where lots of diverse people can voice opinions. If you donāt want to read my opinion, use the ignore feature. No-oneās forcing you.
That is the only reason I can think of to prefer a laptop over a desktop, portability or a lack of space. Iām lucky enough to have plenty of space and, since Iām a dev for a living, my living room split in half with office at one end and living room at the other and the missus canāt argue. The desk backs on to the sofa and is as wide, so Iām quite happy sitting at my desk while being sociable. There are some people that have built entire cockpits in their living rooms, I know a fella who took the front end of a Nissan GTR, built his PC and gaming console into the engine bay, 42" screen in place of the windscreen, etc, etcā¦just to play Gran Turismo. Honest, itās true. Of course, he was singleā¦
And Iām also convinced that, Ā£ for Ā£, you get more performance for your money investing in a desktop.
Load up X-Plane 11 with Orbx scenery after the hideous Vulcan update.
Takes a lot more than 4 minutes!!!
Iām not sure how long my load up takesā¦donāt think itās quite as long as 4 mins. Flight load ups donāt take too long eitherā¦
Whilst there are a few bits I still like in XP, I havenāt used it since purchasing MFS2020.
You are lucky, it takes me 10 minutes to load my 250gb of mods xD
Hi just looking through the above, bare with me I am nearly 80 but still simming, I have now tried cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -FastLaunch this makes the launch 3 1/2 mins instead of 4 mins. I was just wondering, ( now donāt get too techie with me grey hair), the splash screens seems to hang for about 20 secs+ each, just wondered what it was doing to load up. Mind you at my time of life 3 1/2 mins is valued (he he), but would have thought would load in about 2 mins max? My cpu is intel i5 -7600 @3.80ghz, M/B H270 pro4. Not sure if can speed that up? Have a good day.
From experience - the more mods you have and the larger your rolling cache, the longer it takes to load.
Hereās a quick tip for mod control.
Only add in the mods youāre going to use for that flight. It makes no sense loading Europe mods if your exploring Asia.
@TheTwister7156 Download and use MSFSAddonLinker, and create links to only the aircraft and scenery you are going to use for that specific flight. Works well.
I donāt have many things in the community folder and deleted a lot of stuff that comes with MSFS in the content manager (things I never use, planes, airports, liveries and so on).
My current loading time of MSFS with fast launch enabled is just over two minutes.
Thatās quite ok.
Could be better, could be worse.
