Im not talking about making custom views!..Id like to move about freely like in the TBM. Ive seen videos of users doing this but there is never an explanation…I cant get past the cockpit entry.
To use the drone camera and move around the only way I’ve got it to work is with a Xbox controller.
Yep - bought an off-brand XB controller just for the drone.
The downside of the drone camera is it doesn’t move along with the aircraft when flying and getting buffeted from air currents. So as you’re walking around inside the cabin, the plane will be shifting up and down relative to the camera and is prone to clipping through objects.
The only other option would be a custom view. Once set, you can walk about the cabin, and even move outside the plane like a drone camera, but the camera moves with the plane and you don’t have the clipping problem. This would allow you to walk back to the cockpit as well, so to speak, but then you’ll be locked inside again and have to re-activate the custom view. Pretty sure this is what they are doing in videos, along with some creative editing.
I use it a lot for making nice videos. Love this drone option!
Just a quick video to give a sample of all the options

For still shots, that’s easy. Set Pause ON, position and frame, Set Pause Off.
I don’t do video, but I understand the challenge for that.
2 minute video is like 2 hours recording, not talking about editing yet
And I have neither the disk space nor the free time to do that! My flying time is scarce and therefore jealously guarded. More power to the video content creators!
That’s why I don’t edit, not that I make many videos in the first place. I do it in one take and hope for the best. Lol. Now photography, on the other hand, that I will edit. My record was about 8 hrs on a single photo. Not a session, just a single photo.
Back to the topic at hand, isn’t there already a wishlist thread asking for the ability to freely walk about in fully rendered aircraft interiors so we don’t have to use custom views? I know it’s not the first time this issue was brought up.
What happens to the drone if you pause the sim? Can you still move it around?
If so, just pause the sim and visit the cabin. When you get back in the pilot’s seat, unpause the sim and fly.
Yep. Set Pause On freezes more sim elements than Active Pause. You can drone around freely.
So to drone around freely I would use Active Pause?
I suppose it would be nice to be in the cabin watching the Tokyo skyline going by while the plane is flying on autopilot. But that may be reaching a bit, considering the drone movement isn’t locked to the airframe.
Active Pause doesn’t actually pause as many sim elements as Set Pause On. For occasional screenshots where you’re not spending tens of minutes setting up for framing etc., either will suffice. If you are doing an elaborate setup, Set Pause On works better in my opinion.
From the cockpit you can’t but…if you know how to make custom views you can. For all planes that do not allow movement to the passenger area I just copy the cameras.cfg from a plane that I have passenger views setup. When you start the CJ your custom views will be all out of wack but you can now move anywhere in the plane you want. Just save the custom views you like and you are done.
suggest you this camera config change , maybe different values will be necessary and one or two try to reach the desired location, then just record one custom camera, you will be able to travel everywhere outside the cabin
