Hello everyone my name is Collin and I have just started playing MSFS 2020.
I keep running into an issue with the G1000 in the Cessna 172. When I start the flight in parking and cold, I go through start procedures and start up the aircraft. I am able to get the pilot screen up and running of the G1000, but I can not get the co-pilot screen working, it just says “Garmin” on it. There is no GPS.
When I start the flight on a runway with the game doing all of the start procedures when I spawn, then the co-pilot side works and shows the GPS.
My question is from cold start (parking) how do I turn on the co-pilot G1000 screen to show the GPS? I’m also on PC using an Xbox controller.
If you take a close look at the right G1000 panel (called the mfd) you will notice instructions for activating the screen. You need to press the bottom right softkey. Then the screen will come to life.
Welcome to the forums and to Microsoft Flight Simulator! I have renamed your post so that people can see what it is about before they click into your post.
SamuraiSax gave the correct answer. That screen is called the MFD, or multi-function display. You can feel free to mark their post as the solution once you test it in the sim.
Oh and by the way, the button to press is along the bottom row of the MFD on the right-hand side. Those buttons are called soft keys because the button behavior changes depending on what screen is active.
