Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody knew how to have an IFR plan with Fenix A320.
Any suggestions?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody knew how to have an IFR plan with Fenix A320.

Either you type in every waypoint yourself or - and this is the much more realistic and easier option - you import a flightplan from simbrief
I did import flight plan from SimBrief but when i go on the atc menu it doesnt say ârequest IFRâ.
Fenix and many thirdparty aircraft dont use whatever systems are required to enable the defult atc.
But its not a bad thing for a number of us who have decided to go without atc and the bugs (tailwind runways) that go with itâŠ
I believe your best option for atc to work with these aircraft is to do a ifr flightplan on the world map, I belive you can actually import a simbrief flightplan into that defult world map.
I went on the world map and pressed âhigh altitude airwaysâ. It gave me a flight plan but not the exact one that I wanted which SimBrief gave me. How could do you import the flight plan from simbrief exactly?
Export the flight plan from simbrief to *.pln (there is an option on the website to do that or you can use the simbrief downloader tool - also link on the website).
Import on the MSFS world map.
In the A320 type it into the FMS as usual. A lot of videos about how to do that on youtube. I can reccomend this channel: (18) Master the Airbus A320: Cold & Dark Start-Up Tutorial | Episode 1 - YouTube

Ise simbroef downloader to download the flightpöan in the MSFS format
In World Map go to more amd load the flightplan from your PC.
After I do this do can I still manually insert flight plan on the mcdu without it automatically doing it?
Yes. Fenix and sim flightplans are not communicating.
You can manually insert the flight plan or you can import the saved plan.
Since I like the in-game ATC my usual procedure is to create a flight plan in Simbrief.
Download the flight plan to my PC.
In the game at the plan screen, import the sim brief flight plan (which sometimes may not match exactly but I ignore that) â this gets you ATC.
Load whatever plane Iâm flying
It either has simbrief integration and I load that way, or it automatically loads from the planner screen, or I load in the saved plan from the âMCDUâ (multiple ways depending on aircraft), or I type it in manually.
Generate your Flight Plan on Simbrief and then use the Simbrief Downloader to download the plan. Once in the world map, import the flight plan. This will allow the in-sim ATC to use your plan.
The Fenix A320 itself is fully integrated with Simbrief, but it starts at the Fenix App.
Enter your Simbrief user ID.
From there, the EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) (ipad) will have all your flight data / information.
Once you have power to the Aircraft, go to the MCDU, and select âATSUâ
Then, âAOC MENUâ
And, âFLT INITâ
Now select âINIT DATA REQâ
This will pull in the basic flight data
Now, click on the âINITâ key
And within the INIT menu click on âINIT REQUEST*â
It will populate most fields, and you now enter your FLT NUMBER, COST INDEX (found on EFB in your OFP)
Your CRZ FL (Cruise Flight Level / Altitude) and it will populate the ISA temp automatically.
Enter the GND (Ground Temp) from ATIS, and then select the âWINDâ button and then âWIND REQUEST*â
Click on âRETURNâ and it should be complete
If you want to verify, click on âF-PLNâ
And you should see your flight plan
I hope that helps / is what you are looking for, unless I completely misunderstood the ask
Keep in mind, I just covered quickly how you get a flight plan into the Fenix with Simbrief but the actual aircraft startup procedures are out of order.
Let me know if you need further clarification, apologies for the grainy pictures, I remoted into my sim from work to get the photos for you.
Tinkering with the MCDU is 90% of what you do on an Airbus under normal conditions.
Assuming you have a autoland capable ILS at your destination you can basically turn on the autopilot just after takeoff and not touch the controls until youâre back on the runway at your destination.
Putting in a route usually takes less than a minute and is part of the fun, I think.
Excellent write up, I was about to the same until I saw yoursâŠ
To the OP, this is the best way to get a flight plan entered into the FENIX A320 MCDU. Best of luck.
There are 2 ways, but first, you actually have to click on âGenerate Flightâ to generate that Flight Plan. Once you have done that, you will see the following;
âFlight Plan Downloadsâ
Click on that, and you can download for FS2020
Or, you can use Simbrief Downloader which runs on your PC Directly.
Some great tips above.
As stated, download and install the âSimBrief Downloaderâ and you will be able to load the flight plan into MSFS World Map and then load the SimBrief flight plan into the A320 MCDU as explained above. This should enable you to request and be granted ATC IFR clearance, including climb and descent instructions from ATC.
To load your flight plan into the MSFS World Map you will need to set up the file path in the SimBrief Downloader (see below), plans are stored on your PC at this location (Steam Purchase):
Once you have set up your file path for the downloads (you will only have to do this once) you will need to launch the SimBrief Downloader each time you want to download and save a flight plan to your PC.
C:\Users\YOUR PC USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator
After you have clicked on Generate Flight in SimBrief, go to the SimBrief Downloader and click on the Export This File Only button and this will download the flight plan to the above location.
From within MSFS and once in the World Map screen, press the Space Bar and then press the Load/Save button and click Load From This PC and select your downloaded flight plan that you downloaded from the SimBrief Downloader. You may have to tidy up the SID/STAR sometimes.
Donât forget to click on a gate for your start location otherwise you will be placed at the end of the runway when you click FLY!
This method should work with any aircraft and not just the Fenix A320.
Hope this helps.
All this! And once you click on a gste, dont worry thst it will still show the runway. Just stsrt the flight and you will be at the selected gate.
