How do you taxi Draco X without speeding

I searched this forum and Google, but found nothing explaining it correctly, so I’m sorry if it has been posted before, and if so, please point me in the right direction.

I quite like the Draco X. It’s a real beast that can almost take off and land anywhere, and it’s really nice to fly with it (great view of your surroundings), but there is one huge issue that drives me crazy (quite litteraly, I thought I had tourette at a point and I deliberately crashed it on my way to the runway) : Taxi

There’s nothing I can do, Draco X just wants to run at ludicrous speed and I can’t rein it back.
I’ve tried everything I thought about :

  • leaving the throttle in idle => Plane just goes forward, reaching 20kt in seconds and keeps going
  • Putting the propeller to very low (and even 0) => Still runs away
  • Being in low idle => does not helps
  • Passing the propeller to the negative range => Now it stops, but it really just stops, not immediately though
  • Throttle in reverse => Same with the propeller with negative range, it stops
  • Activate the beta range (not sure if it really exists on this plane, but the sim allows for it) => It’s keeping its speed below the “speed limit” but barely, and the only way to have the plane to stop afterward is to brake all the way from 17-19kt to 0kt, because disabling the beta range makes the plane instantly accelerate like crazy and going over 25kt, except if I brake immediately

I really don’t get it. How am I supposed to do? Toggle between positive propeller and negative propeller? It’s tedious and I need to be very mindful of the current speed to avoid speeding inadvertently. But to this date, it’s the only option I found out that works.

This does not feels right, if the propeller blade can be inclined in a direction that makes the plane generate little to no thrust, and even negative thrust (although I don’t know why, I can’t have the plane going in reverse), there should be a way to have it generate so little thrust it keeps at any defined speed, right?

Is the sim broken, or am I? Please help me keep my sanity and fully enjoy Draco X.

IRL you’d most likely be taxing a turboprop in beta and varying that to adjust speed… now in the sim beta doesn’t work like in real life but that can also be a hardware issue (some hardware has a beta range on the throttle) but most don’t. In that situation I would constantly have to go in and out of beta to manage speed.

example, throttle in the idle position, prop and mixture full forward. airplane starts to accelerate to about 15knots then place the throttle in beta and let it slow down to say 5 knots then throttle back to idle to accelerate again. you can adjust the speeds to suit your needs and different airplanes will behave differently. it’s annoying and not very realistic but it’ll work.

there are some 3rd party turbo props that have more useable beta ranges, the SWS PC12 and the Black square starship are the first two that come to mind.

Hey. Thanks for your answer. I’ve tried to toggle into beta, but the plane is still accelerating to 15-19kt. It usually won’t go much faster, but it still quite fast when you want to steer, forcing me to push on the brakes.

I’m using the Thrustmaster Hotas, so I’m using a button to toggle into beta

Try using idle reverse to slow down. I use the “TOGGLE THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST” bound to a key to activate reverse, I’m fortunate enough to have a button that can be activated with my throttle to activate and deactivate reverse which simplifies it. then when in reverse I can regulate how much reverse power I use by moving the throttle up or down
