How do you use brakes in MSFS 2024? I can't stop any of the planes? especially when taxing or landing

How do you use the brakes on MSFS 2024? It has a CTRL + what looks like a long hypen or something that isn’t on the keyboard at all. Can you please help? If you have any info that would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

If you’re talking about the default keyboard binding for parking brakes, I believe it’s ctrl+space bar.

I don’t know the default keyboard or other bindings for the main brakes; I use rudder pedals with toe brakes that are assigned by default. You should be able to find the default bindings for keyboard or controller or other device by searching the controls list.

I am actually talking about trying to slow down the aircraft on the ground. I keep running off the runway and into the bushes or buildings etc etc. It isn’t pretty. I hope I can resolve this binding with the keyboard until I get yoke and pedals. I sure think the keyboad is hard to use when flying. I think i hopefully would enjoy it better with some perifials.

Thank you,

Kurt

That “long hyphen” is probably supposed to indicate the space bar. Parking brakes by default are turned on with CTRL+space. When I set it up I had to manually assign brakes to my controller so I could use joystick button 1 to apply brakes. Go into your controller settings, select whatever controller you want to use, and search for “brakes.” What you’re looking for is something like “hold brakes”. “Toggle brakes” will be, well, a toggle.

In that case you’re looking up the wrong entry; you’re looking at the parking brake. You want the actual brake axis or something else. I don’t know what it’s labeled.

The space bar is default keyboard jey for brakes. This is what I use to slow the aircraft on runways and taxi ways. Differential braking is something I am keen to invest in some pedals, but there.are also key binds for that, multiply and divide keys I think.
