Hello all,
In the CowanSim MD 500E helicopter there is a button re-ign test. If you flip it, you here a clicking sound of the re-igniters.
I searched a bit on the internet but could not find information on how this automatic re-ignition works in helicopters, or in the 500E specific. Or why it is there in the first place. Or when it is triggered exactly.
And couldn’t I pilot, if the engines stop, just instantly push the starter button? Or is this re-ignition instantly triggered if the engine fails and thus faster then the pilot? Or can’t you use the normal starter?
Can somebody explain this automatic re-ignition in helicopters a bit to me. Then I know what I am doing at least when I flip that re-ign test switch in MSFS 2020.
