I assumed sliding it to a time would make the mission I selected start at that time, but when I pick a mission after sliding it to a time it just sets the time to whatever time the mission already had set. What does this slider actually do? How do I “find” missions that actually start at the time I selected?
It also says it changes the weather to the time I selected in the previous 24 hours. How do I see what the weather is while sliding? There are no clouds that show on the career mode map…
Also as I slide it left and right red dots appear over some activities. What does this red dot mean?
sadly for now i believe the time of day / weather slider is broken and only changes the world map, when load into a mission its a preset time.
also there is little information about weather as most of the missions just say sunny and the temperature with no more info.
the red dot is to indicate the type of flying rules, if i remember red is for VFR.
I was about to ask the same question.
I understand that you have to wait until you have your IFR Rating until you can change time and weather.
However this does not seem to work.
I set it to realtime and weather for the mission I’m currently flying but the mission time instead gave me 22nd August at 9:15 UTC.
Temperature, Pressure and wind, seem to match real time though. Cloud coverage and time and date do not.
I don’t know whether this is by design since I’m still at the point in my career were I fly for other companies instead of my own. So maybe date and time is supposed to be fixed by the employer? And this will change as soon as I open up my own company? But I somehow doubt it.
When you move the slider, you will see a red icon on certain missions. You have to move the time slider to the time that the mission says it starts and then it will have the live weather and stuff. It’s confusing but you can’t set the time for them yourself, they are pre-determined times. All the time slider does basically is let you fly that mission with the live weather from that time.
This is exactly what I have noticed as well. Which is “meh” why have apps like Navigraph and the like which give you mission airport weather when like you said only the wind and altimeter seem to be ‘live’.
Dont know how the dynamics are setup. I kind of feel that it is not well published but the whole career mode is just canned flights I think. I thought they were randomly generated and would create flights at times based on your sim time once you had the night endorsement and IFR rating it should allow it to just take system time and real world weather… but it doesnt.
I have not tested the slider but when you go to the missions page. Once you have the IFR rating there is a Weather and Time indicator and slider at the top right of the Missions Map. I will have a test to see the effect of trying to get a night flight…
