student pilot here, 28 hours under my belt
Keep going best decision ever
I attend the NW Flight Sim group here in UK, there are a lot of retired pilots involved in the hobby, and even more aerospace engineers.
What does strike me is that for an open group, at 50 I am usually the youngest attendee by some distance.
I am a real pilot ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI, and type rated in several jets. I used to run a large part 141 flight school and a part 135 operation. I’ve been flying for 49 years.
I enjoy MSFS except for the dozens of serious bugs. This last update broke so many things and causes screen stutters.
Mack
Not in person but my brother was a pilot.
NF-5, F16, 747, 777 and 787.
Besides that he owned a flightschool and so… he learned me how to fly IRL
Back in 2017 he died wich of course was very sad but every-time i take of in the sim, he flies with me. Still miss you daily Martin!
Simple PPL here (SEP(A) )
In progress to get an IR rating
Commerical pilot. Started flying 24 years ago.
Interesting question as there are “no boundaries” in the term “PILOT”… I guess if you are good at simming, you should get a simmer pilot licence licence
That said, if you consider “being able to manage an aircraft of any sort”, most of us aren’t “pilots” per say… We are only parts of that idealistic “PILOT” from the title !
So yes, I’m some sort of pilots, in different types of aircraft, like ULM, LSA, gliders, hang/ paragliding, some planes in some simulations… But I still have much to learn in aerology (air mechanics) and plane dynamics in many many types of situations, and that’s what drives me
Also be aware that most of “us” will say “yes I’m a pilot”, cause well, have you tried saying that in public already ?
Flexwing microlight pilot aka ‘the flying bathtub’ : )
I used to fly gliders
I agree… IRL you would declare several planes ‘unfit to fly’.
But luckely, MS/Asobo are constantely working on improvements.
Of course there are bugs but they will be fixed overtime.
2000 hrs in GA aircraft owned 2 177 and 150. Flown since 1978.
Instrument rated.
I imagine some of the people here could usefully form an advisory group and give those good people
at Asobo a little technical, real world guidance!
But maybe the more cooks, the merrier the broth!
Private pilot since 1976 at the tender age of 19. Robert Newlon Field, Huntington, WVA.
Been flying real airplanes since I was a kid. Now I fly around 100 to 150 hours a year in the RV-10 I built. It’s pretty immersive!
I am a real pilot too. Got my ATPL back in 2006. Hence my tag ATPL2006.
Flown A300B4 and A300-600. Then A320. Now Flight Instructor
Leasure Microlight Pilot since 2015. Only fly fixed wing microlight around UK once a month.
Could all of you pilots update your Profile, Preferences, Profile, About Me sections with the peripherals that you are using, please? Myself and others (I bet) are curious what three devices you are using to control your planes in MSFS.
Sorry, If you think I have derailed this thread. That is not my intent. Carry-on!
I have my CPL, instrument and multi engine rated. I have not flown in a couple decades but am thinking about getting my CFII and instructing. I see other instructors around MSFS2020 and would love to get back into it.
