Some interesting findings: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - How Much Data Does it Really Download from the Cloud? - Simulation Daily
So, some crazy article said 84Gb? I was wondering why so many people thought the sim was downloading insane amounts of data which it clearly wasn’t when measured.
You can monitor your use and set a cap if wanted/needed.
Options>General>Online>DATA CONSUMPTION
I might be a bit naive, but why is there so much attention for the actual amount of GBs that is downloaded? Isn’t the majority of home internet connections free of data caps?
I use around 500 GB/month from my home internet connection. And I had to look that up just now, because normally it isn’t of any concern.
The cable companies and the incoming FCC chair believe in data caps. I don’t want to turn this political but I wouldn’t assume that you will always have unlimited data.
Yes and no, most connections have no caps the so called “unlimited” but if you read the fine print you will usually find reference to a “fair use policy” which prevents someone running amok with bandwidth . What triggers this policy or how much exceeds fair use who knows

Looks like separate

They were confusing transfer rate with storage, or bits with Bytes.
They said 84Gb which is 10.5GB/hr. (84/8=10.5).
Edit: wrong units
You seem to have got something backwards there. 84GB would be 672Gb.
Also not sure how you can convert a quantity into a rate.
His unit of measure was already in bits (84Gb). If you maintain exactly that rate for an hour, OK I’m looking at his math and there’s something missing.
84Gbps / 8 = 10.5GBs.
3600 seconds per hour * 10.5GB per second = 37,800GB per hour (37TB).
If the original article was just 84Gb transferred in an hour, that’s 10.5GB in that hour.
