I did a quick check on my sound settings, and discovered that I had Active Spatial Sound enabled in the Windows System settings AND in the MSFS sound settings. I disabled them BOTH, and used the sound management software that comes with my motherboard. I also added some Equalizer to beef up the lows and tone down the high pitched fans and such in the cockpit sounds. Much improved sound for me now. I hope this helps.
