How to adjust map size on MFD using keyboard key or joystic button?

This would be on a G1000 NXi panel mod and a PC. Thank you.

I use the Range knob to zoom in & out. I hope that is what you are referring to.
(I tried to upload an image, but this forum seems to be broken a little bit)

I dont think that is a function that has a keybinding in MSFS.

Like many others, unfortunately.

Yes, that is exactly what I am referring to. It is difficult to take your hands off to look and fiddle for the knob with the mouse while you’re busy handling the joystick, keyboard, or some other device doing something else.

In earlier versions of the simulator, there is the plus or minus key on a PC keyboard to increase or decrease values; such as zooming or unzooming, in a dial or knob to simulate turning it left, right, up or down.

There are still “plus” and “minus” keybindings which you can use to interact with various things, but it’s mainly radio frequencies and it works poorly for that to boot (I had trouble switching between wholes and fractions).

In practice, the main options are:

Buy a piece of replica hardware, as the OEMs tend to handle the interfacing with the sim. Except for the Logitech radio panel, this is expensive.

Buy a piece of interfacing software like Axis and Ohs or Spad.next (or FUSIPC?). These allow you to access much wider range of commands, such as G1000 and GNS530/430 keybindings and they can also be used to script custom aircraft specific commands (e.g. scripting a button for door to close).

I suppose you could also wait for Asobo to do something, but last I heard their plan for G1000 command support is “not planned”.

Until a keybind is available, best thing we can do is set up custom keyboard instrument views to best show the knobs needed at a given time. I personally use the “hover over the knob and use the mouse scroll wheel” to turn the knob. At least the more important knobs for the autopilot are mappable…I have the ALT, VS, and airspeed knobs mapped to controls on my yoke/throttle quad setup.

Hello,
We ask that people please use Community Support when asking help questions. I have moved this topic.

Thanks for monitoring.

The thing though is that I don’t know that this has anything to do with the G1000 NXi mod specifically? I think it applies to all dials in the sim. I should have noted that the G1000 NXi is just an example.

Hi there,
As far as I’m aware, it should be the same for both.

This is do-able, but not with the base sim. As others have stated there is no option to map the MFD range knob.

However, I am a cockpit builder and in conjunction with MSFS I use FSUIPC7.

With FSUIPC7 all of the key bindings are done outside the sim and FSUIPC7 provides access to a lot more cockpit interactions. I believe this can also be done with Mobiflight, and possibly SPAD.neXt

FSUIPC7 has an addon module called a WASM module. This expands the list of available interactions.

Using FSUIPC7 also has the bonus of being able to backup all of your key bindings so if you need to reinstall the base sim you don’t lose them.

This is how my key binding for the MFD map range is shown in my FSUIPC7 ini file

|5=PG,9,C33126,0 |-{:MobiFlight.AS1000_MFD_RANGE_DEC}-
|6=PG,8,C33125,0 |-{:MobiFlight.AS1000_MFD_RANGE_INC}-

You will notice that I use a Mobiflight WASM module. This is because Mobiflight worked out how to do it first but I believe the FSUIPC7 guys have since written their own module. I just haven’t downloaded it.

I have this assigned to a rotary knob in my cockpit and works perfectly.

Hi, I’m curious about the functionality and adaptability of FSUIPC. Are your key bindings specific to just the G1000 NXi or will it work with others such as the Garmin G3000? Perhaps with only some modifications? Are you familiar with AxisandOh’s (AAO)? I’ve read that it might be?

You can download AAO’s demo from there: https://axisandohs.weebly.com/

It has (IIRC) 30 minute limitation and then it automatically shuts down, but you can see for yourself what functionality it has. Search AS1000 for G1000 commands (they will be under HTML variables). Can’t recall if it has G3000 commands there by default and I’m not at computer where I have it installed, but you can check yourself. 530/430 are there. GTN750 isn’t, but PMS gives the variables to use in it’s manual, so you don’t need to go looking them yourself and can make simple scripts to use them.

Spad.next also has demo, in this case it’s something like 20-30 days of unlimited use.

When you assign keybindings in FSUIPC7 you get the option to make the binding aircraft specific or all aircraft. So to set up a specific aircraft I go through the search function to see what event is operating when I throw a switch in the VC. I then assign this to a switch on my home cockpit and tick “Aircraft specific” in FSUIPC7 on the assignments page. Hope this answers your question. No, I am not familiar with AA0s.
