I try to figure out how to change com radio frequency with the keyboard, as mouse and wheel is inprecise and difficult to perform when i turbulent weather. When investigating the controls settings there is the old FSX “C” button - but nothing happens when pressing it and trying to increase or decrease the freq increments with + or - . Please note that this has nothing to do with the AI second pilot or game ATC, but on IVAO and VATSIM networks.
Hello @Sueede48 ,
I use the c button to set the frequency and it works, but I do not use the keyboard…
The +/- description may be misleading. I expect it to work like the alt/heading/speed… bug settings, that have the same description concerning +/-. I do not know if they are meant to be used with the keyboard, but they may have been intended to be used with something like the Honeycomb bravo, where you have one knob to select which value it is you want to change and the other one is a knob that makes use of the plus and minus key binding to increase/decrease the selected value. I think it should also work with the keyboard, if you set c as the com1 selector that shows the +/- description and add two keybindings to the miscellaneous plus and minus settings in the game. E.g. bind the + key to the Plus in-game setting.
Hi.
The settings I refer to are keyboard controls in MSFS. What C button are you thinking of, if not the keyboard key?
Yeah, that was misleading.
For everything else with the +/- description I use my honeycomb bravo peripheral. Since it does not have a selection for the coms, I decided to use the c key on my keyboard, but still use a knob on this honeycomb peripheral to increase/decrease the value of com1.
That is why I connot guarantee that it works solely on keyboard, but in theory I don’t see why it would not work if you additionally assign keyboard keys to the “Plus” and “Minus” settings.
Hope I could clarify.
Ok. I’ve come here for help, too.
I’ve gotten the “C” along with my mapped “Minus” & “Plus” functions, but how do you switch between decimal places? Subsequent presses of “C” doesn’t do it.
“Set COM1 Standby” doesn’t seem to do anything either.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Ok, scratch that. After a reboot of the sim, “C” is now shifting between decimal places.
@NixonRedgrave
So I assume it now works for you, too?
If I remember correctly, I had to double press the c key twice relatively fast for it to consistently switch the decimal places. Not sure if this is still the case though.
Edit: Topic moved to #self-service:peripherals,
as using the plus/minus functions seem to be working when using the keyboard.
Yes, it seems to be working consistently.
It’s odd, there are times where I find controls misbehave, yet don’t know what puts them in that state. Restarting the sim seems to cure it though.
I am in a the midst of major keyboard re-mapping, perhaps pressing this and that set it into some state that I couldn’t identify.
