After wrestling with this game repeatedly to install it, I finally figured it out, only to discover I now have some kind of nickname that shows up in game while flying in multiplayer (and on this post). I did not pick my nickname. The game seems to have created one for me. I don’t like it. How do I change it?

That name is your Xbox Gamer Tag, a unique name used to identify you across the Xbox network. Please visit the Xbox Support Website for information on changing your gamer tag.
Once you change your gamer tag, you will need to log out and back into the forums and the sim for your names to change.
A few things to be mindful of:
- You can change your gamer tag for free once. After that, you may be subject to a small fee
- When you are choosing a new name, pay attention to the UI. If you try choosing a name that has already been taken the system will add a #number to the end of your profile
Thank you. But why was I given a Gamer Tag. Why wasn’t I asked for one during install? Perhaps I missed the question?
When you created an Xbox account, you will have been given the chance to choose a gamer tag. If you never explicitly created an Xbox account, then one will have been assigned for you. Xbox accounts are tied to your Microsoft Account.
