How to change the default cockpit position linked to "reset cockpit" function?

I use a 21:9 widescreen monitor and with the default FOV there is very noticeable stretching similar to a fish eye lens, this is due to the extra screen space from running 3400x1440. This can easily be countered by lowering the FOV a lot and then moving the sitting position back a bit so i can see more of the cockpit.

The problem is that i use the ‘reset cockpit’ command a lot and this always reverts it back to the default sitting position (which is too far forward due to the lowered FOV). I know i can setup a custom cockpit view shortcut and use that instead of the ‘reset cockpit’ command but i was wondering if there was a way to edit some files so that i can set my custom view to be the default cockpit view so that the ‘reset cockpit’ command resets to this position.

I believe you’re looking to alter the VFR view. I don’t have the sim running, but I think it’s F10 for the view and ctrl-F10 to set the view. Once you’ve set it, the reset view will then bring you back to it, too.

Check for keybinds with VFR in their name in the cockpit camera section.

What you are looking for are these. Default keyboard bindings:

  • To set: “VFR Pilot View Save”: ctrl + F10
  • To reset to default: “VFR Pilot View Reset”: shift + F10
  • To toggle view: “Toggle VFR Cockpit Mode”: F10
  • To recall view: “Reset Cockpit View”: space
