How to create a backup of airports and planes bought in MSFS Marketplace?

I have to downgrade to Windows 10 because of my HP Reverb VR headsets.
However I will loose my data, in terms of the many airports and planes I have bought in Marketplace. Steam and Valve company play dummy on helping me, despite the large amount of money I have spend on them.
Is there a possibility to make a backup of my airports and planes?

Yes.

You identify their folders in the OneStore folder and then make a copy in an alternate location.

I am, basically, doing this ever time I need/want to test/run the sim without all mods or specific mods.

I have used colored folder icons to label purchased aircraft, liveries, airports, scenery, utilities, etc. with different colors. That way I can easily identify those folders from the base, Premium, Deluxe, WU, CU content.

However, if you are simply doing a reinstall of the sim due to downgrading the OS, then you can redownload all your purchases via the Content Manager in the sim itself. All your purchases will exist there for redownloading. Backing up the data, though, will make the process easier due to not having to deal with downloading all that content again.

Thats how I back it up.

No, you don’t. My Reverb G2 still works fine on W11.

It’s a cache folder. It’s not where MSFS keeps addons downloaded from Marketplace.

Its where community and offical folders are, ive backed it up from there for an age, now 762gb, thats a large cache. Never mind!

Community and official folders are located in Steam library, as below. Please stop misleading others.

\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Packages\Community\

\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Packages\Official\Steam\

Unless 24H2 is forced on you.

But it’s not, it’s an optional update. Unless you install Windows 11 from new ISO file or buy a new PC with preinstalled Windows 11, but it’s not the case here. I guess.

That’s right. That’s why I’m not worried about downgrading to Win10.
My Reverb G2 will work fine for a while.

Hello Nixon,

Thank you for your quick response! I did a complete search on my computer, but could not find the OneStore folder. Where is it located?

Regards, Hans

The default location will depend on if you have the MS Store or Steam version:

MS Store:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore

Steam:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\OneStore

Purchased content will have the following naming convention:

developer-type-name

Example: microsoft-aircraft-atr

Why backup? Can’t you just download them again on new windows?

Agreed, but by backing up you can avoid the download speed lottery and/or not use up your limited data, if you’re on that kind of plan.

Hello,

I tried both paths, although I bought via Steam, but after the username, Appdata could not be found. An overall search on “OneNote” did not yield in any result from my computer. Hence OneNote does not exist on my computer…

Not OneNote — OneStore

You need to turn on the ability to view hidden items in File Explorer. Then you should be able to see the folders.

Hello,

Athough not under OneStore, but Steam, it seems I could now see and copy airports/planes to an external disc. If it will really work I have to see later. Thanks.. Steam was no help at all…
