How to create and share a flight plan using the new Flight Planner tool

Scroll down the EFB to see the SAVE/LOAD buttons.

The flight plan is saved as a .pln file but not all .pln files are equivalent. The format and information in the MS 2024 .pln files is different than the format and information in MS 2020 files. That is, the MS 2024 .pln files are not useable (by design) by MS 2020, Little Nav Map, Navigraph, or any other third party app. (This is sort of similar to PMDG not importing MS 2020 flight plans.)

Right now the only thing that sort of seems to work is copy/paste of waypoints (except for MS 2020) between apps.

I’m hoping someone will create a flight plan converter real soon.

Where does the WEB based planner save the flight plans on the PC for the EFB to find?

And how do you import a flight plan into the flight planner webpage? What folder should it be in on your PC? I tried in …/localstate but the web planner cannot find the file.

OUCH! So is there no way to export a flight plan OUT of the MSFS Planner (browser) that can be used in other standard mapping applications besides importing into 2024?

Hello
Flight planner worked fine for me until some days ago. Now, impossible to download a flight plan in the sim. I can see it but when i select it to load, it remains loading … What i’m doing wrong ?
Is there somebody who can help me ?

Plans are saved to the cloud, they are not saved to your PC. You can access those plans from anywhere on any platform in MSFS 2024 (PC or XBox).

Thanks [Bishop398], i know that but when i select a FP in the sim it remains loading via EFB like this :

I click the load button and then ā€œLoading ā€¦ā€. It remains like that.

I launched Flight planner this morning and it said a new release have been installed. I tried to download a previous FP in the sim and great, it works again.

Thanks.

It works for 2024.. but can’t be exported out of the 2024 planner to work in any other app! 2024 is locked in so to speak!

At the moment, all my waypoints are named by its coordinates. Is there a way to custom name your waypoints? Say to something like ā€œLand Hereā€ or some such?

I’m facing this issue. It says I don’t have a Xbox or have not run MSFS which both are wrong. Any idea?

This post could use an update as the interfaces for these pages has evolved a bit since the launch of the sim, particularly on the EFB side of things :+1:

Hi, can you do the other way around? Like saving a flight plan of a career mission and import it the the web flight planner tool? How do you do it? I tried ā€œsave to webā€ but it says ā€œerror while saving flight plan. Thank you.

Am I right in assuming this planner website does not support MSFS 2020 at all? I see there’s a Upload PLN file but no Export PLN file. This seems like an arbitrary limitation that’s designed to persuade MSFS 2020 users to upgrade to 2024 and is a great way to alienate MSFS 2020 players

Great way to alienate MSFS 2020 players too.

It does not. It was designed specifically for MSFS 2024, and requires an active MSFS 2024 simulator purchase to access the planner. The site requires features and cloud services that do not exist in MSFS 2020 (such as player aircraft inventory services, flight_performance.cfg files, to just name a couple).

At this time we have not yet added PLN export. It is something we would like to bring at some point, but we cannot say when, as presently we do not have available resources. The PLN export would be in the 2024 format, as it supports the full route including all procedure details.
