How To Determine Safe Altitude

Good afternoon forum,

When using P2ATC and you validate your flight plan it will automatically adjust your altitude if set to low (so you don’t end up in the side of a mountain).

What I am wondering is where can I see that for my route on a chart? I ust Navigraph and wondering where I check on the charts / map to see what the highest points are and what I need to clear?

Thanks in advance.

On the Navigraph enroute maps you can see the grid mora. E.g. 27, meaning you are safe in 2700ft. If an airway has a minimum altitude it is listed right under the designation for that particular part of the route.

Not sure if you meant to put an attachment with regards to your E.g. 27 but I don’t see anything

I meant for example. If you zoom out a bit in Navigraph enroute charts you see green numbers. For example a big 2 and a smaller 7. Meaning you can go as low as 2700ft in that grid, normally 1 degree, without hitting something.

Ah, that’s the part I was missing.

I wasn’t zoomed out enough.

How about the brown numbers?

It’s the same, they just incorporate a 2000ft margin instead of just 1000ft, because of mountains and stuff. There is a guide for Jeppesen charts somewhere, that explains the charts in detail.

That makes complete sense!

I had watched a great tutorial series by NOTAM on youtube but he hasn’t been active in awhile and the series didn’t get completed, or I just didn’t remember that part.

Thanks again for helping.
