How to fix Micro Stuttering?

I think the A320 FBW mod gives alot of stutters cause its more indepth aircraft systems running in the background. The CPU is having to make alot more real-time calculations and having to work harder.

Works for me.

Install MSFS and the game Package on a faster drive, example: SSD, NVMe/M.2, or similar.

Try using 25-50 GB rolling cache under Data.

Disable mods.

Do not using Vsync while G-Sync is enabled, that will cause undesired results.

Set Nvidia Control Panel to prefer maximum performance.

Enable/Disable Windows Game Mode.

Make sure your OCs are stable and producing gains, not loss. Monitor temps for thernal throttling.

…
Otherwise the sim is in need of optimizing.

Yes…same here and I am on the same CPU like yours OC @5.2. Tried with HT enabled or disabled, makes no difference.
Here is what is the fix or at least will make things better. You need to put the terrain LOD as high as you can so everything is loaded in the vram and system ram. Mind you I run a 3090 in my system so I might have some betterment in that regard over you… but you should be ok with your 2080Ti. Had prev that card and its more than ok. Dont listen to some of the wrong advice that some people offer by disabling game mode etc. … makes no diff what so ever, in contrary can make things worse. Long term hope DX12 will help but it`s really Vulcan what the devs should look at here to improve the smoothness and feel of flying.

For me stutters are generated because MSFS don’t use correctly the CPU and one core has too much load. Of course by using the FBW A320, with more fonctionnalities, you add load to the CPU and generate stutters. See this picture of my I7-9700K eight cores, with the core 7 in saturation.

I know that running the mod is what causes the stutters and that’s what’s frustrating. It only makes sense that a more detailed aircraft model and system causes the sim to run more choppy. I feel like no matter what I’m doing affects anything or increases FPS. I’ve reached the point where I have my graphics settings set to low-medium which is a shame because previously I had been running smoothly at medium-high settings when I was able to fly the default A320.

For someone who doesn’t mind flying the default A320 it really bugs me that my only two options are to either:

A. Fly a broken default A320 that probably won’t be able to complete a flight

or

B: Fly a functional, modded A320, but have to sacrifice decreased settings and still suffer constant stutters.

I have a high-end system and it flies very smooth, except on approaches to KSEA. It has to be all the data being prepped. Once it all loads up (10 seconds worth of micro stutters) then it is smooth all the way down. I’ve adjusted settings all over the place- makes no difference. I do appreciate that the final approach is smooth, not like prior versions of FS where it was a slideshow down to the numbers making it extremely difficult. I hope the sim will get optimized further- it needs it.

…how my beloved PC manages without Protection !

Ermmm ā€œdon’t listen to some of the wrong adviceā€. You mean like the advice you’ve just given him? Putting the LOD to 200 strains the CPU and actual induces stuttering.

Limiting fps to 35 in Nvidia Control panel eliminated all my stutters, regular and micro. I think it helps give your CPU and GPU headroom to load things in without affecting FPS.

This happens to me all the time while using the mod. During final approach into an airport I’ll experience a lot of stutters which I figure is caused by the loading. However, it’s annoying when it happens just before touchdown.

The mod doesn’t cause any stutters or lag for me. I did a test at La Guardia. The first time I took off from there, it was a stuttering mess. I flew a circuit and restarted at the same spot. The next time it was smooth- taxi, climb out, circuit, landing, all good. Restarted again, still smooth which tells me anytime there is a new area I fly to, the initial load-in created stuttering. What could be going on, is if your settings are straining your system, the Neo can push it and create stutters.

…I thought he is got one of the new quantum computers ! No actually, I tested and clearly on high settings stutter as way reduced. I do agree however that a good PC spec is needed!

I have the exact same issue. And only with the FWB mod

If you have Rolling Cache enabled, turn it off and delete the file and then restart the game, that have helped many with micro stutter problems.
If that not help, try to lock your fps to 30, that cure the problem for me, I use G-sync and V-sync in NVP and lock my fps with Riva Tuner, and the game have running smooth as butter in Ultra since then.

I9 10900k 2080Ti 32Gb 3440x1440p

Same.. I cap mine at 35 in Nvidia Control Panel. It actually increased my bottom end FPS and has been smooth as silk since.

Same here, bottlenecking the CPU by GPU (using power limit and maxing certain graphic settings) netted me much more smoother experience.

On my system, micro stuttering is caused by glass cockpits.

I did some simple benchmarking testing A/C with glass cockpit turned on and off, and steam gauge A/C, and the frametime results match my own experience. The details are in this forum post: Micro stutters in glass cockpits (+ simple benchmark analysis included)

Sorry if this sounds dumb, how do you lock your FPS to 30?

Another thing I want to add here is that it has to be the glass cockpit issue. If I’m viewing the aircraft outside of the cockpit, it runs smoothly. However, I kind of need to be in the cockpit view to fly lol.
