How to get high score in landing challenges?

Hello,

After completing the training category, I’m ready for the landing challenges. Somehow I cannot get very great result in these challenges. Even I did, I thought it was a lucky. :laughing:

Now I tried to fly as low as possible before landing with launching full of flaps. Low the speed when I’m close to the blue landing mark and to see if I can land it on time. But I don’t think it’s not a best way to keep every landing perfect.

What’s your tips? Any advice will help. :slight_smile: Thank you all!

Landing challenges are not representative of real landing and they teach bad habits

But if you want the best scores, take your time. You dont have a time limit and can even do goarounds as long as you dont touch the runway.

Dont wait for the last minute to drop your flaps
Personally i stay about 5kt over stall speed, and when there is PAPIs, im descending beween 3&4 reds
Put the parking brake before touchdown

Im always doing over 1 000 000pts

The main factors to get the highest scoring are:

  • Lateral deviation from blue target spot (the lower the better)
  • Longitudinal deviation from blue target spot (the lower the better)
  • Touchdown roughness (the lower descent rate / softer touchdown the better)

Take into account that until all wheels are not in the ground you are not evaluated, so with airliners nose wheels need to touch ground as close as possible to the blue marker too.

So if you are centered on the runway and perform touchdown at the marker below 500 fpm you could normally get the A scoring.

The Landing challenge scoring in MSFS is wildly innacurate so dont blame yourself when you thinkk youve nailed a landing and you get a C! Ive nailed the 320 landing challenge a number of times now and on one I received 940,000+ pts but the next (which was even better) I got 292,000 pts. Touched down on centre line yet only 900 for Ground roll??? The challenges are an enjoyable part of the game but the global high scores are meaningless if the scoring is so inconsistent. Its a shame we dont have a replay option to watch the landing such as is in other sims

Really? So this was the reason why I was doing landings almost identical, but had only differences in the drop position of the nose wheel and see results varying wildly without logic! They thought it stupidly!
