How to get real airline liveries?

I’m sorry for what is probably a very noob question but I am struggling on how to get rid of those generic FS airliners and replace them with actual ones (US airlines). Can anyone please assist me?

John

You can find most freeware liveries on flightsim.to.
Use the filters on the left side of the page to filter for the plane you’re looking for.

Thank you! Do I have to do anything in the game to get it to use the new liveries instead of the generics?

Download your Livery, put the content in your Community folder and have fun

I went over to Flightsim.to, I must be missing something. In the Liveries section for Boeing, there are only liveries for add on jets, nothing for the in-game 737.

not sure where you’re looking;

He wants real life AI models for live traffic… There is currently no solution yet, but some Stuff is WIP

That’s where I was looking. Only 737 liveries are for a payware Max variant. I’m just trying to get rid of the horrible generic liveries for the AI flown airliners.

There is no ingame 737, so finding a livery for that will be a bit though

Correct. I don’t think I made it clear in my original post. Looking for liveries for the AI jets. Want to see real airlines at the airports I’m flying into instead of those FS generic schemes.

For now you have two options

  1. use the installed repaints (3rd party liveries with correct settings)
  2. wait for the addons

Nexus mods has this: I’ve been using it for a while now.

So, there’s more to it than downloading liveries.

  1. A lot of liveries that are out there for downloading are not properly constructed (missing models, etc)
  2. A lot of liveries out there do not have properly constructed aircraft.cfg file, with the actual ICAO symbol, so, when MSFS goes looking for an appropriate livery it won’t find it even though it’s there.
  3. I think there’s something else you have to do to get MSFS to use the liveries on the AI. I think you have to turn the “Use Generic” option on, and maybe some other things.

@Neo4316 is an expert on this subject, he could probably provide more insight into your question.

It’s not a noob question, it’s a very real and important issue ( but really, to me it is, too, it should be easier), and, sadly, it’s not so simple to get it all right. It will require you to go through every livery you download and check it for consistency and correctness.

One other point you’re going to want to check, and I hinted at it in bullet 1…

It’s likely the A320 is going to be the most important “generic” plane for airliners for you. You’ll note that there are 8K and 10K liveries out there, referring to the fact the author upscaled the textures to a larger texture size (and may or may not have properly taken advantage of the more pixels in the texture). If all of your AI used these, it will kill your performance.
so…
If they were nice, they also created a 2K AI livery and the appropriate code (model, etc) so that the AI planes will use this much smaller 2K livery and not the huge one. In my experience, not many have done this, or, if they did, it wasn’t done properly.

Besides checking to make sure the airline is properly referenced, this is one of the major things you’re going to want to check and fix if needed for each livery. Beware the 8K and 10K liveries.

Wouldn’t it be nice if aircraft AI livery collections were sorted by country, so, you only needed to load those for the areas you fly?

Liveries - Project Mega Pack

This is more or less the definitive source for airline liveries for the A320, 787, and 747. Combining PMP liveries with the AI Traffic Liveries add on linked above will give you what you are looking for with respect to AI traffic.

Is there a way to introduce Delta, SWA and American 737’s as well?

I downloaded a whole pack for all the airliners. Multiplayer is much better now.

The only way you can get a 737 airframe is to have the plane. As far as I know, there are not currently any freeware packs of AI aircraft with lots of different models of planes like there are for FSX.

It’s possible people have created liveries that are actually from 737’s that work on the A320. If that’s what you were asking. Otherwise, if you’re really hankering for a 737, you’ll have to purchase the Bredock model. Problem is, I don’t know if they included a model optimized for AI in it.

That Project Mega Pack source, maybe it’s been kept up across the board since it was first released. But, I have a copy of it from September or October, and therefore all of it is basically out of date as Asobo has messed with the livery layouts since then. And they are collections of liveries from multiple authors, as I noted above, they don’t always have the right airline code, they don’t always have AI model associations appropriately created, and many of them are 8K and and 10K.

Technically, they are mostly designed for using, not AI. I had all kinds of CTD issues when I tried to get it working, and finally, it was so much work to go through all of them I gave up.

As I noted, do a search for @Neo4316 's posts. He’s discussed and worked on this subject quite a bit, and has it working satisfactorily for himself.
