How to get the Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrant detents working in the A32nx mod

Hi
Having spent many hours trying to get this working I decided I would never remember how to do it if I had to do it again, so I made these notes. I hope someone finds them helpful. They work for me.

The steps are:

  1. Calibrate the Quadrant

Update the Quadrant’s driver

Plug the Quadrant into the PC

Unplug the USB C connector from the rear of the quadrant.

Make sure the metal bar is slid in to hold the levers together.

Put levers into “reverse is locked” mode

Pull levers to full reverse

While holding in the right hand black square button, plug the USB C lead into the back.

Levers to TOGA - press left and right red side buttons on the levers in together.

Repeat for levers to FLX, CLB, IDLE, FULL REVERSE*

*missed out on the official video!

Press the two square black buttons together.

Unplug the USB C from the back

Plug it back in again.

This completes the calibration.

  1. Configure the TCA Quadrant in MSFS

In MSFS main menu->Options->Controls options

Remove any assignments from THROTTLE 1 AXIS (0-100%), assign it to JOYSTICK L-AXIS X, and uncheck “reverse axis”.

Remove any assignments from THROTTLE 2 AXIS (0-100%), assign it to JOYSTICK L-AXIS Y,and uncheck “reverse axis”.

Press SENSITIVITY blue button and set JOYSTICK L-AXIS X to 0% everything except reactivity (set to 100%).

Repeat for JOYSTICK L-AXIS Y

Press DONE

  1. Set the detents in the A32nx mod

Start a flight with the A32nx mod.

Arrange for the Flypad on the left windowsill to be big enough to control it. Click on it to start it.

On the flypad, in settings, Sim Options, press the calibrate detents button.

Put the Quadrant in full reverse. Make sure Reverse Full is highlighted in green on the FlyPad. Press both the blue Set from throttle buttons.

Move the throttle to idle, then back about 4mm into the reverse zone. Repeat the previous with the green button at Reverse Idle.

Repeat for Idle, CLB, FLX, TOGA.

Press Save & Apply.

Move your view to the throttle and confirm the detents are working correctly.

OMG thank you so much. That worked out very well. So nice to see the correct detents in the sim in perfect harmony with my TCA Airbus throttle quadrant. Got this nice piece today and am now ready to fly.

So glad it helped you! It’s surprisingly fiddly, isn’t it! Not exactly plug-and-play.
