My joystick Hotas one has issues recently. I was flying the glider and after applying the brakes for sliding, it crashed, I could not control it. The most recent problem is spinning out of control. It all happened with another plane. Is it the joystick going bad and I need a new one? Thanks.
And what after new calibration ?
The most common issue that can occur with the Hotas One is the potentiometers that send the position signal start giving out false signals. If you’re handy, got a small screwdriver, some rubbing alcohol and cotton buds, you can get into it and remove these to give them a clean which fixes the issue. But this doesn’t really sounds like what’s happening to you as they are rapid twitches that would jerk the aircraft around a bit when providing inputs (mine would previously give aileron twitch to the right when applying elevator) rather than total loss of control
They do have a limited lifespan if used a lot. You can try the various clean and repair options, but in the end my one died completely.
If you need to replace it, the VKB Gladiator is an outstanding joystick, with build quality and feel that put Thrustmaster to shame. Mine still looked & felt like new after over 1,000 flying hours.
I updated to the sim beta 4 update and the issue with the joystick it seems resolved. It is strange. However, the update brought me another issue that I will make another topic about. The issue is my challenges league completed disappeared.

Here’s the tutorial I used. It’s quite entertaining as well as informative
That is expected, but only while in the beta.
It will be returned upon leaving it.
