How to measure FPS when using Quest 2 with MSFS?

I’m using MS Flight SImulator with the Quest 2 and would like to compare frame rates using different planes. How do I measure the frame rate while using the Quest 2?

There is an FPS counter in the sim, accessible by enabling developer mode. However, in VR it’s impossible to see properly because it only loads in one eye.

I found the best method is to use the Performance Overlay in the Oculus Debug Tool. The FPS count is identical to that in the sim and the debug tool is designed by Oculus so it works extremely well in VR and the Quest 2 on PCVR games.

Cheers

How do I access the Oculus Debug Tool? Also, what is the ‘virtual desktop’ and 'StreamVR"? Thank you.

The debug tool is usually located in:
C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics

Look for the application called OculusDebugTool. Once you find it, double click to load.
A small window will appear, at the bottom you should see a line that says “Visible HUD” and None.
Change it to say “Performance”. Once you enter VR, the counts will begin to change according to your stats.

If you’re using your Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop (which uses SteamVR instead of Oculus), I think there’s a setting in the VD app that enables you to turn on performance stats.

Cheers,
