Hello All
I’m still struggling with propperly loading a flightplan into MSFS 2024. I basically have two options I use:
Little Nav Map
I create a flight plan and save it as MSFS 2024 PLN file. Now I am on the worldmap and I open the EFB. There on the “Route” tab I use the function “Load from PC”. I locate my flight plan and load it. Nothing happens - it does NOT populate now the start and endpoint… Nothing works this way?
→ Update: After rebooting the sim it loads the flightplan. But if I choose a parking position the sim looses all waypoints…
Via Simbrief
I export the LNM flightplan to Simbrief and “Generate”. Then I use the simbrief option in the EFB on the worldmap (I often do this when I fly airliner - it works well) and I “Load the simbrief flightplan”. It shows me now all the waypoints on the simbrief page of the EFB.
Now all waypoints are well aligned and I now choose which pad I wanna start the flight. As soon as I choose a parking position MSFS 2024 looses all waypoints and just keeps start and destination airport? What is this?
I must be doing something wrong. Can I not just - as in 2020 - import the PLN file from LNM and be done with it? I must surely be missing something?
Hi! Yes - I did that. If I do choose the parkposition in LNM already then it works. But as soon as I change the parkposition on the wordmap in the sim it looses all waypoints and wants to go straight lol
Well - once I generate the simbrief flightplan I open up the EFB in the sim and go to Simbrief and there “it already is” - I only have to go to the tab “view” and hit “import route” and it should work. This is the way I always do when I use for example A pilots life etc.
I see - gonna give it a shot - but what I observed in general is that the whole EFB and Route loading is quite “situational” and kinda works until it breaks and I have to reload the sim. Like often…
I’ve been lucky, I don’t have many issues with that aspect.
The EFB and flight plan loading seems to work 95% of the time.
I’ve run into the occasional times where I couldn’t get the EFB to load the viewed simbrief plan.
A restart did seem to fix that.
The import command as of yesterday, for me, does no longer work on the 2020 planes in 2024 that It worked on before. Guess they had to wreck the 2020 planes to get us to buy new ones?
no, I am not in Beta. I like to fly not fiddle with broken sims or planes. The Carenado’s from 2020 are suffering this malady even the new Carendo 182 is not allowing a transfer
Ensure latest edition where Alex built a specific Export for 2024 .PLN format.
Build the plan - and YES, you can include a parking point for Cold & Dark start. I can’t speak to arrival, as in a destination gate as I’m a GA user and simulate local guidance to eventual ramp spot. Export it.
This the key step:
When you’re at the World Map inside the sim, select at the minimum the same Origin Airport and a parking ramp position - ideally the same parking spot you designated in the .PLN. This is vital.
Then select the EFB - this is all before you load into the plane.
When selecting the plan and loading it you have two options - and they’re dependent on the plane you’re flying.
This applies to the Garmin and ProLine 21 equipped aircraft whose FMS is built by Working Title. Can’t speak to the MAX 737 or other Asobo planes, I don’t fly tubeliners.
Ported aircraft (i.e., build and designed for FS2020, migrated into FS2024) have a so-called Version 1 of those Flight Management Systems.
Native aircraft (i.e, built and designed for FS2024) have a so-called Version 2 (V2) of those Flight Management Systems.
If the plane is a 2020 aircraft migrated into 2024, then all you need to do is select the LNM exported PLN and use only “Send to ATC” - that’s it. That’s the equivalent of loading the plan at the FS2020 World Map. V1 aircraft only understand Send to ATC - which loads the plan into the aircraft and tells ATC here’s my plan so you get pseudo ATC services that track your intended progress.
2.If the aircraft is a native 2024 plane - you must use BOTH - Send to Avionics and Send to ATC (or use the Combined Option). This is the only way the aircraft both gets the plan AND have ATC services during the flight.
Notable exceptions - the Pilatuses which use Epic 2 (PC-12, PC-24) do NOT accept the plan using the above if you are at the World Map. If you are using those planes, use the Send to Avionics and ATC for good measure at World Map so you get ATC service. Once inside the PC-12/PC-24, you must call up the EFB again, use Send to Avionics and you’ll see the plan load in the MFD.
