How to properly uninstall MSFS 2020 (Microsoft store)?

Dear all, I bought MSFS 2020 directly from Microsoft. Now I want to completely delete MSFS 2020 and switch to MSFS 2024. What is the best way to uninstall it? I don’t want to keep unnecessary folders on my PC…

Many thanks for your ideas!

If you have the space, DON’T do it. You will regret it.

for what reasons Scott?

Well, if you don’t know that, you either have MSFS2024 not installed, or you are one of a few who doesn’t have much problems of all kind.

That will depend on how you installed FS2020.

I installed FS2024 to my K: drive.

I would delete the FS2024 folder and the WpSystem folder.
FS2020 was the same.

Check the last line of your UserCfg.opt file to see where you have FS2020 installed. Note that this may be a Symbolic link.

Search for UserCfg.opt on This PC to see where it is physically located.
This will tell you where the physical file is and where the
WpSystem folder is.

1 = Symbolic Link for FS2024
2 = Physical file for FS2024

3 = Symbolic Link for FS2020
4 = Physical file for FS2020

The “Microsoft Flight Simulator” folder is installed in the “Installed Packages” folder.
This is where your Community and Official folders are installed.

Search for the Microsoft Flight Simulator folder is in This PC.

Now that you have the installed locations, go to the
Settings, Apps, Installed Apps and scroll down to Microsoft Flight Simulator and click the 3 dots and then click Uninstall.

Then go back and check the locations identified above and delete any that still exist.

Moved to User Support Hub > Install, Performance & Graphics as the OP is requesting community assistance.

Look up Kevo Uninstaller. It gets everything off the computer related to any program you no longer want.

Of course, I don’t know your situation, but could you install another SSD to hold MSFS 2024? Storage is not too expensive these days.

Well done for actually answering the OP’s question. I would’ve done so too but you beat me to it.
