How to record monitor full screen video when I fly in VR headset?

Hi guys, I’m having a little trouble sharing my gameplay exerience in VR.
I want to fly in VR mode, because that gives me spatial awareness, but I want to create flight videos that uses monitor’s full screen window resolution(1080p) out of my experience .
Conventional recording will capture the double eye vertical frame clips. That is not I want.

So I guess there maybe two solutions

  1. Record flight data, and the replay it in non-VR mode and capture screen
  2. Just use some magic software to capture monitor resolution (frame) video,

Hello, TrimericGoat654, If you’re using SteamVR, there should be an option to toggle the VR view to full screen. And then just configure your recording software to use that window.

I suppose there is no way to do this with WMR? WMR devices don’t seem to perform well with SteamVR.

Moved to VR, General for better visibility.

You can do it with OBS Studio but there is a simpler way of doing it, which I sadly can’t quite remember. I think it depends a bit on what headset you’re using.

I’ve done it with OBS Studio but it is very, very CPU intensive. The results with my 5600X weren’t very satisfactory. 6 cores just weren’t enough for all the extra processing required.

The WMR portal has a recording option. Press windows on the controller, and there’s a little camera icon bottom right of the menu. The captured video will have a lower FOV however.
