How to reduce brightness and contrast in game

Is there an option to reduce brightness and contrast in game? If not for the game, at least for the EFB and / or the avionics screens?

I’ve been using the Nvidia app. There’s a filter…can’t remember right now…Brightness & Contrast I think

Moved to User Support Hub since question does not seem related to SU1.

Is there a function in game? I dont use Nvidia App

The EFB has a brightness slider but it’s bugged and doesn’t work. I wonder why they didn’t fix it yet.

Isn’t that used to adjust the brightness of the EFB only?

I think it is the EFB that he wants to dim

OP wants to adjust brightness and contrast of the game itself, as well as the EFB. I thought maybe meh1951 thought the EFB slider would control the game’s overall brightness.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

I’m using Nvidia filters for 2D and OpenXR toolkit in VR

Look at the difference in VR

Depends on the plane. The Cirrus Vision has a brightness knob to control the MFD & PFD. The Draco lets you set brightness on the PFD menu. It does not remember the setting though. Unsure about others as those are my go to planes.
Try tinkering with the PFD menus.

Well, the EFB being bugged and having to install the Nvidia App to get control over brightness and contrast are not the solutions I was looking for. Seems like there is no way around it for now.

If your using HDR have you tried the Microsoft HDR calibration tool for you monitor? Also there are setting via the NVidia panel that are beneficial.

There is a way. You just don’t want to use it. I get that.

I’d also love Asobo to make everything I use an app for to work in the sim instead. It would be great to have proper ATC, proper charts, proper live traffic, better cloud and weather presets, multiplayer model matching, a good system optimization tool, a comprehensive and granular dynamic LOD:FPS tool, a frame generation option for those of us without a 4xxx- or 5xxx-series nVidia card, and how about easily customizable chase plane, tower, and cockpit camera views.

As for brightness/contrast controls (and a bunch of other settings, like gamma, vibrance, color balance, RGB values) that make the sim look much better, I use ReShade instead of nVidia Filters.

But it’s a 3rd party solution as well.

IL2, DCS, etc have a Gamma setting that controls that precisely.
MSFS2020 looks amazing and thus messing with the monitor will destroy my 2020 experience.
As mentioned above, the EFB is broken, and I dont like to install overhead apps.

Yeah, just me. But I hope in the future, 2024 reached the visual quality of 2020

C’est la vie.
Happy Flying.

I’m on Xbox series X 4K with HDR10 off (on makes it worse) and it’s really really bright on the sim. I’ve tried adjusting TV settings but it doesn’t seem to help much and if I make it any darker, I can’t see anything that isn’t the sim. Yet when I take screenshots, they can be viewed in the Xbox app on my phone and are much less over-exposed looking on that and night shots are dark as they should be unlike on my TV. It’s as though the output to the TV for FS24 (and only FS24) is massively over-exposed
