I’m trying to get off the ground in a glider. I don’t know how to choose if I want a winch or a tow plane, so I just spawned and found myself behind a tow plane.
Everything I found told me to waggle the rudder. If I do this the guy holding the wing is moving his arms but then nothing happens and he again holds on to the wing.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

It may depend on which glider you are flying. Sometimes there is an invisible parking brake set which prevents the tow plane from moving. Release the parking brake, even if there is none.
When choosing a glider, look for the launch method during aircraft selection. There you can choose between winch launch or tow plane.

I have the Pipistrel Taurus M and the K7 freeware from .to. Both don’t move even if I release an imaginary brake.
In the Pipistrel, when behind the tow plane, the engine is running with the prop door closed and the prop not visible.
Should I get another glider for tow launch?

Tried the Pipistrel Taurus and found it almost unflyable, especially with the flaps deployed.
Flew the K7 quite successfully provided the PZL Wilga Tow Plane version is used to launch.
Are you suggesting that a tow start for the K7 only works usung the Wilga?

I can also highly recommend the Got Friends Discus 2c. (freeware and payware), as well as the Schleicher AS 33 Me.
I have tried other tugs and some work and some don’t. With the Wilga Tow plane version it does work. You may have to try and see which other tugs will work. (or not)
Actually I own the Discus, just disabled it because it’s a 2020 aircraft. I will give it a try now.
I also own the Wilga. Just tried it and it works.
