How to start the engine of the Cessna Caravan on the ramp

Usually I start my aircraft on the ramp.
Following the check list for the CARAVAN I do not get the turbine running. There is no reaction moving the throttle. I have the impression that there is no ignition.
On the other hand, putting the aircraft on the departing point of the RW and it is normal picking it up from the flight planning, the turbine is running and reacts on the throttle .
Any idea to solve the problem ?

I just ran a quick startup in the 208 without issues.
Are you starting with the ā€œbefore start engineā€ checklist? The only thing on it is to set the fuel selectors ā€œonā€, which could be an issue if missed.
Do the ā€œbefore starting engineā€ checklist, and then when you get to the ā€œstarting engineā€ checklist, when you hit the starter, it will take the engine a few seconds to start rotating the prop.
If youā€™re still having issues, let me know and weā€™ll work through it some more.
Regards

Following the rest of the checklist should work fine.

Thanks a lot. Indeed I missed the fuel selectors. There was no advice in the checklist ?

I have had the same problem. Who the heck thought that was a sensible place for them?!

There was advice in the checklist. It says ā€œset fuel selectors to ONā€. If you skip that because you canā€™t find them, thatā€™s not the same thing as turning them on. If you canā€™t find them, then that would be the question to ask.

Another weird quirk I have noticed (nothing to do with the Caravan though) is the fuel valve in the G1000 Cessna 172 is ON when you start ā€˜cold and darkā€™, but in the steam panel C172 it is OFF when you enter the cockpit. It is quite small so that confused me for a while, the first time I flew the steam panel C172.
