How to use mouse to pan around with drone cam

How to use mouse to pan around with drone cam? i have the transpose controls mapped to a,w,s,d,q,e. However I need to be able to pan the view around with the mouse easily.

How is this done? Thanks

Hmm, I’d like to know too.

ya! using the numb pad to pan around is a huge pain, and it’s not very accurate like the mouse is.

Yeah, there is a simple solution:

Use an Xbox controller…

But seriously you could try mapping some of the axis control to mouse axis and the wheel etc. Yaw for the panning function. (flying the drone with an xbox controller is simplicity itself, although the default translation speeds are way to high for smooth ‘cinematic’ panning).

This is such basic functionality… It amazes me how broken the camera system is.

If only there was a camera API

i’m playing on a laptop in a cabin in middle of nowhere Canada. no xbox controllers around here

i looked in the mouse settings and as far as i can see there are no drone controls mappable whatsoever

What, no Amazon Prime ?

now you’re just trolling. if you’re not going to be helpful just try your best to refrain from commenting

Lol, no not trolling. Just amused at the thought of MSFS in the great Canadian wilderness and the challenges it must bring (amazed you can get the bandwidth to play). It doesn’t seem like you have many options to solve your problem though.

If it makes you feel better, I have a controller and I haven’t figured out how use the drone camera with it.

ok as long as you’re not trolling. yeah i’m at my gf’s family’s lake cabin wayyyy up North in Saskatchewan. it surprisingly has decent bandwidth (~30MB/s). i have a new gaming laptop with a rtx4080 and a 2k screen.

so between those two things I can play MSFS really well…except no joystick or xbox controller. i’ve learned to use the w,a,s,d,e keys to fly the plane and use autopilot when I can. only issue is the dang drone camera

lol

Youz needz onez of theze

 thats wild. i may have to seriously look into getting one. it’s even got a tiny trim wheel

Yep it’s super cool! Quite expensive for what it is though.

indeed. very expensive for an all-plastic little controller.

I’m guessing it doesn’t work with Xbox

Nope it does not.

I took A gaming laptop on holiday with me a few years ago and my old Logitech joystick. I even had a tiny headset so I could go on Vatsim.

Worked very well as a travel rig. Until MSFS fried the motherboard ! (But that happened later as was also due to building works dust and pollen clogging the fans)

But back to the matter at hand.

Try mapping YAW DRONE RIGHT and LEFT to the left and right mouse buttons, perhaps in conjunction with a centre click. (To avoid conflicts)

And INCREASE/DECREASE DRONE ZOOM to the centre wheel. You can still use the numpad to translate the drone.

Not sure if those commands will work if not mapped to an axis, but worth a go.

Here is my cheat sheet of all the default drone commands mapped to the Xbox controller (I could never remember them all otherwise):

I think it’s probably expensive because it’s a small production run. I imagine if they start selling well the price will come down. They really need to make an xbox version, that could get the volumes up.
