Hi, I have a question about weather, and its for example if i start with real time weather from a place that have rain and i go to a place that have clear skys, it will update? I mean, its dynamic?
Im asking that because I bought REX, but from 28 to 3 of may its under maintanance, and as most of you know, it works injecting weather from airports metar and injecting it to the sim, so it changes as you go from one place to other taking the most close airports.
So today i tried again the real weather from the sim and im want to know if its more precise than the rex, or at least it changes dynamicaly as you fly around the world
Kind regards!
It changes dynamically. Per location and also over time.
so we can say that its quite precise and we can use it in IVAO or VATSIM without problems?
I don’t fly Vatsim. So not sure. But it corresponds almost precisely with what ever I see when comparing weather and winds with other online sources.
I fly on VATSIM exclusively and it can be quite off at times granted I use Active Sky for XP and P3D. I really, really am excited to see what HiFi has to bring to the table for MSFS.
(I didn’t know if you knew whether or not you could edit the title as well as posts
)
(Sorry, I’m only on my first cup of coffee
)
I wouldn’t say it’s “precise” per say… While generally accurate, and the local airport weather will generally be accurate within an hour or two depending on various factors, it won’t be exactly the weather that’s going on, but it should be “close”.
The weather is built by kind of averaging local airport reports (METAR) and a weather “prediction model” kind of from their partner MeteoBlue for the weather outside of airports. So it should be close, but don’t expect that particular rain cloud that’s right there to be in the sim. But I’ve been quite amazed at times that they properly showed passing storms, just like what was happening, rain for 5 minutes, clearing for a bit, then heavy rain again, and so on.
And for some reason, when using live weather, ATIS reports report 3 layers of clouds every… single… time…
… But that won’t matter on VATSIM
