Why do I have howling wind noises when I’m sat at a gate on a calm day? I’m sat in an open cockpit, canopy open and the winds are howling. Click outside and sounds like I’m in the north pole.
Is this an msfs thing or related to individual aircraft? I can understand it if it’s high winds but not on a calm day with canopy open…
That’s likely an individual aircraft thing as “open cockpit” sounds like a third party aircraft (like the Junkers F-13).
If you got more than one aircraft with open cockpit just compare them on the same airport with the same situation. Also check if some gusts are in place.
I personally like the wind noises, its all about the immersion! 
I’m all for immersion but not some generic wind sound when I’ve just loaded into the plane it’s awful.

Which plane, which airport, do you have external sound mods installed like FSRealistic?
No its just the generic wind sounds I loaded up at EGNV 05 calm weather in the p38 with canopy open and there’s wind noise there that you would expect to hear with canopy closed on a windy day. No fsr mod
Could be something with the P38 specifically. I’ve used many planes with opening doors, and I’ve never noticed it.
Probably I have noticed it before on a couple of planes but think theyve been updated now.
