I missed the $399 sale last time. This seem to be a decent enough price, considering I already have the G1. I don’t expect a whole lot of improvement, but I want to replace it due to intermittent blinking left screen— too late to return.
Also, I am not confident that we will have anything this high resolution, for a decent price in the near future. And…No the HTC VIVE Focus 3 and VIVE Pro 2 and too expensive.
Thoughts on the protection plan? Normally I wouldn’t even consider it, but the build quality and cables on the G2 are notoriously flakey. HP replaces them, but what about after the 6 mo. manufacturer warranty or whatever, and then it takes weeks to get the replacement. Is Walmart speedy on a return/replacement?
I was going to wait until the July 27 update at least to get back into VR, but this is tempting.
Walmart says its shipped by HP. So I assume HP’s warranty applies. I’m only using mine for sims while seated, so I hope it holds up well.
Also, most of the roots problems others are having is due to AMD compatible motherboard USB ports—at least that’s what I’ve read on Reddit’s HP Reverb forum.
