Huge and I mean really big satellite dish

I use PuffinFlight’s excellent ’ We Love VFR - Region 1’ (We Love VFR - Region 1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS)
I left a message for him/her but as I thought this anomaly was cool I share it here.
While using the addon, about 12 nm sw of Kamembe (HRZA) Rwanda (At -2.59095 28.74578) I can see a huge satellite dish. When I say huge it must be visible from space. Top is around 40000ft asl. I can land on parts of it. Except there doesn’t appear to be one there IRL.
Can anyone else using the addon see it?

Are you sure it’s ‘we love vfr’ causing this? I have it and the only thing at that approximate location is a series of antenna masts on a hill.

I removed all Community content and it disappeared. I then put only ‘we love vfr’ back and it returned. It does disappear if I get too high eg when using darkstar to view from ‘space’ but it appears when I get below FL50. However perhaps its just me!

could also be you missing a model maybe? do you have all the world updates installed? I think Puffin uses the satellite dishes from one of those.

Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!

Fire at will, Commander!

Let’s stay on Topic Folks. Thanks.

from the mod description on flightsim.to;

I have premium instance which has latest updates (Version 1.29.28.0) and downloaded recent Puffin Region One add-on. I did a tour of other satellite dishes (Goonhilly, Bude, Menwith, Fylingdales, Santa Maria (Azores) and they were ok (great) but this one still appears for me. Oh well. Its not a problem I quite like trying to land on the base.

Thanks for suggestion. The problem satellite dish is in Africa, covered by Puffin’s Region 1. I have the USA Countryside Points of Interest and it is up to date with no updates available in Content Manager. I installed latest Puffin Region 2 (Americas) but it is still there, I’m just going to have to live with it!

Yes. That’s on me. I review all dishes and radomes manually. This one should not be placed at all. And it got a diameter of 8888 which I use to mark objects that are marked in OSM as “relations”.

I’ll make sure to remove it in the next update.
Sorry for that. I hope that the update will come in few weeks tops.

Hey that’s great at least it wasn’t me!. It was fun navigating it! Looking forward to the update. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the confirmation. I didn’t’ see it but perhaps I am not on the most current version.

My Africa tour has brought me to HRZA and the dish is still there, ominously threatening the citizens of Rwanda.

Any chance it can still be taken away…?

Yeah, sorry about that. I’m behind schedule. Had to shift my focus to Region 2, because of the last World Update, but I’m nearly finished with it. Then I’ll work on updating Region 1.

Cheers, good to now your magic will get it eventually. Until then, I’ll just deactivate this region until I’m out of the area👍🏻

Fun stuff! I Googled “massive satellite dish MSFS” and it brought me right to this thread. I thought I was going crazy when I saw this on my flight tonight in Africa. Right there on the southern shore of Lake Kivu in Rwanda. Spooky!!

Is it bad I kinda want you to leave this, like an accidental Easter egg?

I don’t fly that area, but now I want to go look to see if I have this (not sure what version I’m on) and try landing on it as well. Lol

A bit too big for an easter egg  Maybe if it was the one in Siberia (had one similar error that I caught before release), but this one is too prominent

That’s exactly how I felt @Mooncatt3953 !! Like I found this strange Easter Egg in-game. It was total luck that I actually saw it. It was towards the end of a fairly long flight (FSE), and I only look outside the aircraft every 10 mins or so, depending on where I am. Just so happens, this lake area is pretty, especially with the low morning clouds. At first, all I could see was the legs, the dish was obscured. I was thinking it looked sort of HG Wells War Of The World like. Then the dish came into view, and I was like WTF!!! So I took the screenshot, started Googling, and here I am hahaa.

I consider myself fortunate, for having stumbled upon it by complete accident, before you implemented the fix. Love the addon BTW!
