The new Husky appears to have an RC Allen digital attitude indicator. One of the functions of this DAI is Pitch Sync and it appears to be modeled in the sim. I had not run across this before and am having a difficult time trying to figure out its purpose. According to sites that sell this DAI, the Pitch Sync feature allows pilots to instantly synchronize the airplane symbol to the horizon line when flying in a pitch up or pitch down attitude, and that’s the way it appears to work in the sim. So, if you’re climbing or descending, and engage pitch sync, it puts the airplane symbol, on the DAI, on the horizon line as if you were flying straight and level. I can’t figure out why you would ever want this. Why would you no longer wish to know if you were climbing or descending? Anyone know?
Please, keep in mind that any AI doesn’t directly inform you on whether you are climbing or descending, it only informs you on your aircraft attitude. Regarding this function, I suppose it can be used for an abnormal attitude recovery at extremely high or low pitch angles to bring the horizon line into view so you can bank in the proper direction.
