I bought the sim on MS-Store. Xbox app shows Game Pass version

I’m trying to troubleshoot sim connection issues that started after the recent AIRAC and World Hub community airport update.

I looked at my ‘Xbox App’ and it shows that I have the Game Pass version, not the 40th Anniversary Edition, or the Premium Deluxe version (which I originally purchased.

I’m on Game Pass, but didn’t install that version - at least I don’t think I did.
Any ideas what gives? Or what (if anything) I should do about this?

Hopefully I’m just confused about this.

Hello @BegottenPoet228,

What you are describing is normal. I also purchased the Premium Deluxe edition, but the Xbox app for Windows show the Game Pass version as being installed (see screenshot below which I captured just now). When you launch the sim, do the extra planes and airports from the Premium Deluxe edition show up in your Content Manager as either being installed or available for download?

Thanks,

FYI, I see the same thing - the Game Pass (Installed) item and, in my case, a single bundle for the standard edition.

When I started MSFS this morning, had no issues at the check updates stage & all aircraft were present in my hanger.

I think so. I’m not sure which are only included in the Premium Deluxe version, so I’ll do a little research.

Thank you! I’ll look for them when I get home tonight.

If you’re referring to the logo on the thumbnail, I’m pretty certain that simply indicates it’s available on game pass. Nothing to do with whether you’ve purchased it.

What puzzled me is that it says ‘Installed’ on the Game Pass logo, but not on the other two.

According to Seedy and Smothery, that’s normal. Probably more Xbox voodoo…

I guess the xbox app is only aware of games that are installed, but not DLCs.

I have the steam version of MSFS but see similar for Forza Horizon 4 which I bought before ever having a game pass sub.

Gamepass is confusing.

If you purchase FS2020 Standard, it comes with Gamepass.
I’ll refer to this as FS Gamepass.
Then if you purchase an upgrade to Deluxe or Premium,
that FS Gamepass goes with those.

If you purchase either the Deluxe or Premium versions initially,
They do not come with FS Gamepass or Xbox Gamepass.
You must purchase Xbox Gamepass if you do not already have it.

Also, the pictures on the Xbox screen are confusing.

Folks,

There are three images for MSFS that appear in the Xbox app:

image

The one on the far left is the Standard Edition. It has the Game Pass logo in the bottom left because this is also the edition that is available to Game Pass (for either PC or Xbox) subscribers. No matter which edition you own, this is the one that will be shown as installed.

The other two icons are for the Premium and Premium Deluxe editions. If you own either of those, then the Standard Edition will still be the one that displays as being installed. The extra planes and bespoke airports from the other editions will be available for you to download via Content Manager after installing the Standard Edition.

Note: it is not necessary to be a Game Pass subscriber to install and play MSFS if you have purchased any of the editions outright.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I purchased Premium Deluxe from MS-Store when it was still a pre-order.
I also purchased Gamepass for other games, like RDR2 (which I never play )

I recall more than a year go being very confused after my install got wiped and I couldn’t reinstall it from my MS-Store library. It took me a long time to figure out how to install it from the Xbox Store/ App/ Wherever or whatever it was.)

with respect:

I had the Deluxe version and wanted the Longitude
so I purchased the Premium version.
It would not work because I did not have Gamepass.

I requested a refund from Microsoft, got it, and purchased the Premium Upgrade.
It worked.

Also, my Xbox screen. I have Premium (or Premium Deluxe or whatever it is).
The screen shows Deluxe.

I checked Content Manager for the Deluxe and Premium planescitation, and everything is there.

Also, for the first time in a few days I’m online, and Bing data is back.
I signed out of Xbox Live and MS-Store, and signed back in, but I don’t know if that was an answer, since I’d tried that a couple of days ago - to no avail.

I was still getting disconnected for a few minutes, but now I’m back online.
I switched to the East USA server once I got online.

I’ll continue monitoring.
