I purchased MSFS2020 a few months ago and have not been able to enjoy it because I can’t get past huge updates! I want to enjoy this but can’t. For months every time I open the system I get messages telling me that my system conform to minimum requirements and that I have a HUGE update and must do that before I go further. I have upgraded my system to meet requirements. Late last night a big update completed (after days of downloading) and when I wanted to fly this morning I have to have ANOTHER big update! Is this more evidence of the Microsoft Release THEN Fix philosophy?

Unfortunately, it sounds like you don’t have the system specs or bandwidth for the game. Large updates come out about monthly, and should normally take less then an hour to install. What is your internet providers speed? If you go to fast.com or something?
My speed is 3.1 Mbps. 32GB Memory, 2GB Video. And about 800GB space. i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz processor.
And the latest build for Windows10 64bit.
SSD or HDD drive? This will impact the installation speed greatly.

Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like you meet the minimum specs for the game. This is why you’re having issues. With a download speed of only 0.38MB/s, I’m not surprised that your updates take so long.
you must note that with that rig you can only fly FS2004 with stutters
I fky MSFSX with no issues at all. Of course, it is not updating every few minutes.
Unfortunately your PC is far under spec for the game. And your internet speeds will make updates take days instead of minutes. You could give Microsoft FSX (available on Steam) a try, it works great offline and has less hardware requirements at modest graphics settings.
I have ~40Mbps, and FS won’t download for me either, just stuck on fs.base.package

Oh yeahhh , that’s the one … ( On a CellPone line far out in the country ).
But ,still enjoying. We are all locked up at home anyways around here.

Similar sort of problem, New pc, specially built for fs. Game plays really smoothly. Don,t get too many downloads,updates . But when I do it is always painfully slow. I have a fast internet connection as well.
An aside:
If you have set your in-game download speed to very low but have a high download speed it can bug and only download at the speed you had set. This is a known issue.
When I am streaming, etc. I have shut off roaming cache and set my download speed to 5meg. I have a 500 meg download speed. When I tried reinstalling it would only download at 5 meg.
There is no way to access your stored settings before launching or clear out your settings. You have to just endure it until you get back in. It took FOUR DAYS to reload!
With some MMO they have launches that also provide access to your Graphic and Game options BEFORE launching.
Perhaps Asobo should consider this too if they are unable to address the download bug.
it must be absolutely clear that to update this game, you need an internet connection of at least 100mps! The last update took me 20mn at 60mps (max speed of microsoft servers this day) with an optical connection capable of 900mps (in a prehistoric country like France 
)
