I can't get MSFS 2020 to load on my PC

I can’t get Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 to load. The initial splash screens show up (MFS, XBox, Asbro, Blackshark, then MSF 40th Anniversary ), then the World updates, New Adventures etc. When the progress bar gets to about 57% the music stops, then the program terminates (disappears) with no error code.

After following all the instructions I could find to completely remove old versions and hidden directories I have re-installed and downloaded content several times. I am pretty sure I have a clean install. I have tried disabling all security, and other extraneous programs right after a re-boot. Same result. AVG Driver Updater says I’m up to date, as does Windows updater.

Help!

Thanks

Ive

Is it the DX11/DX12 Problem with nVidia drivers described already several times here in the Forum?

No, don’t use driver 577.0, since it has serious security leaks. It is easy to get 2020 and 2024 to work perfectly with the newest driver.

Yesterday I had the same problem with MSFS 2020.
First I saw my GPU was overloading and then I got like a 6 fps framerate, lol. I tried to tweak the settings in MSFS but it got worse and worse. Then, several times, MSFS crashed also on startup. In the end I got an error message on screen that I can not reproduce but it was directly related to the Nvidia Graphics Card (I have the RTX4060).
But: together with the crash I got redirected to: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016142680-How-to-improve-the-performance
I followed all the steps, removed the Nvidia driver trough Windows Remove Programs and then reinstalled it to the latest version by installing the Nvidia App (not only the driver) and I am now on version 11.0.5.420.
Now al seems normal. But I keep praying.

The ‘Game Ready Driver’ is: Version 581.80 (released Nov4,2025).

Sys info:

Windows 11 Pro 64-bit32 Gb Ram
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D 8-Core Processor
4091MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060

B.t.w.:
On the internet there is an advise to revert to DirectX version 11 and that MSFS2020 would run better on it. I discovered that (after some research) reverting to DirectX11 is NOT possible.
It makes things worse because MSFS then crashes on DirectX11.
Apart from that I am running the MSFS 2020 Xbox version and that can only run on DirectX 12.

Boot MSFS2020 in Safe mode, change to DX12 and then reboot. You can then use the latest NVIDIA. drivers
