I can't move the plane on the ground

msfs-2024 I can’t move the plane on the ground, I’ve adjusted the rudder axis and differential brakes, still the Diamond goes straight…

You might want to be a little more clear on what you mean.

First you say you can’t move the plane on the ground. Then you say it’s going straight.

What’s the actual problem? And change the title based on that.

I came here with a potential answer, and then I realized you might not actually be describing your real problem.

Hi @SUNDR1V3R ,

Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to a sub-category of the User Support Hub

Guessing this is the same thing I’ve run into. The DA40 NG version refuses to turn on the ground, but will if using differential braking (which is cumbersome when using a controller). The regular DA40 and TDI versions steer fine. Can you check if yours is also tied only to the NG?

hey thanks bro apparently, you are the difference between helping and complaining like the other person, I don’t even know why the other person answered haha anyway… It’s just that plane that I was using, now I’m not in the sim but let me try a different plane and let you know… What a luck for me from all the planes to grab, i choose the only one that doesn’t spin on the ground hehehehe

Keep in mind, the actual DA40NG does not have connected nosewheel steering like most GA planes. The only thing that will turn it is differential braking up to around 15 kts when the rudder starts to become effective.
I don’t use a setup with toe brakes, so I limit my differential braking to keystrokes and it works fairly well.

I have tried setting up a binding for differential braking, and it’s more trouble than it’s worth to use it. I’ll see your point about the RL 40 and raise you these counterpoints.

  1. As I already mentioned, the other 40’s (and other aircraft I’ve tried, for that matter) steer fine with rudder only input. No differential braking needed.

  2. In FS20, the NG could use some turning help by applying regular brakes, but still did not require differential braking.

So this leaves us with a massive inconsistency that has rendered one of my favorite planes unusable (I’m not flying something if the controls are not user friendly). Either this is a bug, where the sim version should be turning like every other plane, or all the other planes are actually bugged. I suspect the former for obvious reasons.

I did make a wishlist item asking for an assistance option for those of us using a controller, but at the time I was under the assumption it affected all GA aircraft for realism reasons. It wasn’t until later that I noticed it only seemed to affect this one specific variant of this one specific aircraft that I started thinking bug. I’m waiting to get more confirmation on it before making an official report.

Either way, it’s in an unusable state unless I spawn on the runway, and is something the devs need to address

Now that would be a feat for a single engine plane! Lol

Sorry! We got to chatting about a bunch of things and got on a different model and I just got locked in on that idea without even thinking about the model discussed here! My bad.

Because I thought the problem was you couldn’t move the plane no matter how much power you applied. There is a fix for that, too. But it turned out you could move, you just couldn’t turn it, but the plane is moving. I wasn’t complaining, I wanted you to give more information on what was happening. The title is misleading.

Can you please explain how to fix the issue of plane not moving no matter how much power is applied? Thank you.

I don’t remember it off the top of my head. I saw it mentioned at DevSupport. I think it had to do with the user switching to drone mode while in walk around mode somehow sank some planes into the ground (bad contact points?). I think the fix might by to go into slew mode and let the plane pop back to the ground? I’ll see if I can find the post later as I’m still at work.

I was the one that reported that. I manually slewed the plane and it broke free.
