I found a simple ingame workaround to the 10/1000 increments bug with the Bravo Quadrant

Cheers everyone.

I found a solution or a very simple workaround for the incremental bug when using the Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant. I am aware that the bug occures with any two position switches and this work-around only helps with the Bravo or with any other device that works similary.

First of all you will obviously need to unassign all two position steady switches in the sim’s control assignments. Don’t forget the gear lever and the assignments to the left rotary preselector. So to use your device anyway you will need 3rd party programs to assign your switches, a registered copy of FSUIPC and LINDA for example. LINDA is free and can be downloaded at Avsim.

The point is that we have to preselect the mode with the left rotary switch (for example to HDG) as assigned in the sim to use the right rotary to increase or decrease the heading bug. But this preselection will trigger the bug, too. As far as I am aware there is no way in Linda and at least no simple way in FSUIPC to preselect ALT, VS, HDG, OBS and IAS externally to then change it with the right rotary switch. But that’s not necessary. I have found a way to do this ingame without causing the “sticky button” bug.

All you need to do is to go to the Bravo Quadrant assignments and look for these commands:

  • Instruments & Systems:
    * Flight Instruments
    - Decrease / Increase Heading Bug

  • Autopilot
    - Decrease / Increase Autopilot Reference Altitude
    - Decrease / Increase Autopilot Reference Airspeed
    - Decrease / Increase Autopilot Reference VS

  • Radio
    *VOR
    - Decrease / Increase VOR1 OBS

Now you can assign your controls to these commands. To do that you simply enter the assignment process

for example for the heading bug, so click at Decrease Heading Bug.

Now set your left rotary switch to one position next to HDG, for example VS. Start Scanning and then move the left rotary to HDG and then turn the right rotary to the left So the Key Combination says Button 19 + Button 14.

This way you can assign the bugs, Altitude selector, VS, and Speed without triggerin the 10/1000 increments bug.

I am aware that this is just a work-around and that it’s not acceptable that we have to use 3rd party programs to be able to use our devices properly if we don’t want to do that. In my case I have used FSUIPC and LINDA for years anyway so to me it doesn’t make a difference. Please don’t start a discussion or fight about this here. Just try it out, I hope I didn’t forget something and it works for you too.

If you need help. feel free to ask.
