Same here, dubble click woks.
I’ve had no issues with binds. I started with an old Thrustmaster T-Flight. Had no issues. Tried an XBox controllers. No issues binding / mapping. I bought a Logitech x56 + Saitek Pro Flight pedals. No issues there either. In fact, all those controllers were not only picked up, but default binds were set up. I just had to go in and switch some binds up to personal preference and add more to the extra buttons on the X56 throttle.
And on a side note - I also dug up an old Belkin Nostromo N52 controller I bought back in I think 2003. It’s not even officially supported in Windows any more (Vista was the latest official support), but Windows picked it up as a 10 button controller ,and I managed to map its buttons in MSFS as well.
And TrackIR works fine as well.
but let me guess: you used the tools that were especially created for controlling and configuring these things and did not depend on the in-game settings much except from mapping “buttons” ?
totally agree. Was coded by 14 year olds. It’s style over substance.
Not only the MASSIVE size of the download, but forcing you to run updates before you can play the game; 14 GB patch, unforgivable!
Whatever servers they are using to do the download from are seriously overloaded, multiple times I’m getting packages restarts 20-30 times before it does a proper download. It’s so bad it took 8 hours to download 8Gb.
The support people are useless and don’t know the product.
All I know is that if one of my team designed something THIS user unfriendly, I would have them removed AND get rid of the testing team!
Nope. I don’t even have any custom drivers installed. Basically plugged my stuff into my computer, Windows recognized it, and did all binding changes in MSFS.
that’s even more awesome.
happy flying.
Are you expecting a positive response, writing defamatory stuff like that?
I think the majority of people disagree with you. 9/10 the problems people are having are user error. Reading instructions carefully is a virtue. People claiming that Track IR didnt work who missed the obvious disclaimer that they needed to download an update to the client to include new titles (like MSFS) is a perfect example.
Got my initial download in about 45 min. Chains are only as strong as your weakest link - dosent matter how fast their servers are if you have a lackluster internet connection.
Insults get you nowhere.
And why on earth would you be surprised that something as complex as a flight sim that covers the entire world would have a large download? Really?
Insult all you like, but you just have to read the forums to see the problems MANY people are having.
My current job is designing a data centre so you can take back that user error comments.
I can download a 10Gb file from Steam in minutes, you can sit here and watch the same file download 500mb, then restart, again and again and again and again and again.
Since I work with Azure and Office 365 daily, I KNOW the issues MS is having with datacentre capacity in the Enterprise arena, so I Can guess what issues they are having in something they don’t prioritise like gaming.
Having a 14Gb download as a mandatory download BEFORE you can play the game, without being able to let it go over night is BAD design.
Even typing this that base package file has restarted 5 times. That isn’t my connection, thats bad design.
Refusing a refund for putting out a faulty product is disgraceful.
I don’t know what you do for a living but putting out a 100Gb Game, then having 14Gb of patches to repair issues within a month SCREAMS lack of testing, lack of care and lack of Quality Control.
That kind of error rate in my job would get me fired
It’s NOT the communities job to test products. It’s microsofts!
Since they started their Insider PRogram, the quality of enterprise software has gone through the floor.
Azure and Office 365 change almost daily.
Customers are NOT testers, they don’t know about testing, they don’t understand formal testing processes. There is a reason Software testers get paid so much.
Personally at this moment I would be happy if this game never came out. I’d be £2000 up as I’d never have bought a gaming PC for it and I wouldn’t have wasted 5 days trying to get the ■■■■■■ thing working.
lol, I have no idea how most of us have no issues at all with any of this and yet a few get on here acting like it’s ■■■■ software that doesn’t work… I use TrackIR with no issues, I have controls with no issues, my downloads/updates had no issues, and I have only crashed twice since release… Which should be telling these people perhaps it’s something to do with their system configuration if it works fine for so many other people. When people try to help all they get in return is “no, it’s the flippin ■■■■ software, I spent 2k on this PC”…
Your loss. The rest of us are quite happy and have no issues with an amazing product.
You might have better luck getting your data center up and running if you didnt spend so much time with unproductive posts on a message board.
You absolutely have to update the TrackIR game list, or it won’t work in FS2020. It only worked for me after updating the client AND the game list.
This thing is full of bugs from top to bottom…you can claim it’s perfect, but many of the issues today existed from the start of Alpha testing, so for those that claim it’s perfectly fine, you’re either dreaming or you don’t have a clue about flight sims. This entire roll out from release to patch 2 is a utter failure of epic proportions. The rollout of FSW was better than this and you see where that heap ended up.
Nobody is claiming it’s perfect. I literally haven’t read, seen, or heard that. Anywhere. That would be complete hyperbolic nonsense… in the same way that “utter failure of epic proportions” is also hyperbolic nonsense in the other direction.
Just read a couple posts up
You’re entitiled to an opinion of course, as are we. From where I sit, I’ve never had more fun using a simulator (and have been doing so since the SubLogic days). The immersion is amazing an I can put up with a few bugs here or there and it doesnt kill the absolute thrill of seeing an image that I could only imagine on my Commodore 64.
It doesnt bother me at all if people point out problems (the devs ARE reading the forums - listen to https://www.thresholdx.net/media/ife25j if you dont believe me)), but the Chicken Littles out there claiming the sky is falling are just embarrassing themselves.
A flight sim is by its nature a far more complicated product than most AAA games, to expect perfection is naive and it is NOT the way sims have been released in the past - to claim so means that you have no clue about flight sims. Many then scream that they dont want to be beta testers - fine! Dont buy it now, or get a refund if you’re not satisfied. There are PLENTY of people who are more than thrilled to be able to use the sim now and enjoy it as is while the rest is improved. Stop being such a buzz kill…
I’m sick of hearing excuses for the developers. They deserve the feedback good and bad. My biggest beef is not the software, but the delivery. They have miscalculated somewhere in their territorial distribution farms. I tried a fresh download on a completely brand new pc over Gigabit fibre line and it can’t even pull 2Mbps on the download. This is crazy and needs to be fixed. I’m tired of logging tickets and making calls. Anyway, just more frustrated than anything. I can deal with the bugs, but if I can’t even update it is a little irritating.
Fine. You’re free to leave. No excuses needed.
Who’s leaving. I’ll be hear to provide feedback until they get the message.
