I have recently bought the Thrustmaster AIRBUS stick to fly this game, and I have realized that I prefer to fly with my Xbox One controller (the bluetooth version). Just much more confortable to support both hands on the table and lood around (free view) with right stick.
I don’t want Trackir, and I dont want a big controller on my table. I know they have more resolution to very small changes, but it is not worth it in exchange for loosing the confort and flying with my desk empty and not moving my head.
I just want to use my Xbox One controller properly, and this controller is not recognized by MSFS if I use it without the USB cable. So I can not move to my OLED TV to play this game because I canm not use the controller wirelessly.
If using the “ChinaBox” adapter, like many of us that cheaped out, it has some serious compatibility issues under Win 11. Mine works with some older games released well before Win 11 but won’t work with any of the recent releases. No idea why, just is.
I use the Xbox controller (wired) in my PC as well on many flights. Haven’t tried it with Bluetooth yet. I like it but I miss a throttle axis. I wish Microsoft would develop a new version with an axis that would not auto center that could be used as a throttle.
I have the Xbox Series X wireless controller and it works fine with PC version using BLE 4.0 or 5.0, just pair it first, start msfs and then power joypad on, it should ask in game to keep default profile.
Just get the Xbox Accessories app from the Windows store and make sure the firmware is updated.
I too prefer the Xbox controller over any other controller for MSFS. I use the Xbox controller for my PC version of the sim. I used to use the wireless USB adapter, which worked well, but I lost the adapter and now just use a standard USB cable for the connection between my PC and the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller feels more natural to me than other controllers. It’s pre-configured by the sim. And the POV camera works perfectly with no set up required.
Guys, I’m a bit confused as my Xbox one controller works fine with windows 11 and windows 10 via Bluetooth. Is there a reason for using a cabled Xbox one controller?
Ok, false alarm, it works now. Some update must have fixed the issue. Now the only thing is that this controller does not have a throttle, so I have to raise/lower with a button press. It is a pity that Microsoft does not release a XBOX ONE controller with an specific throttle axis just to fly with this game. That would be awesome. And of corse they could improve the resolution of the analogue sticks a bit.
