I quit the game for a while.. When are updates released?

I enjoy MSFS… when it works. As a rusty private pilot who hasnt flown in over 20 years (Life changed), its been my reintroduction to flying. Its really amazing… when it works. I realize the Sim is a work in progress and there’s a LOT involved keeping this Sim running problem free. I went to school for and am a certified (CAD) 3D parametric modeler… Solidworks. What I do is very complex but is a fraction of the complexity of MSFS. Computer aided design is just “One Cog in the wheel”.

If I presented a product/ design that was “Half Baked” or didnt work, my client would go elsewhere or ask me (Not so nicely lol) to fix things. This happens But some cant afford the time (Or they dont have the patience) involved with work arounds and fixing technical issues that a bad design results in.

Likewise, since my mouse and sometimes controller and Hotas dont always work, I cant keep constantly restarting my series x (Sometimes quitting mid flight). The mouse quitting working is a known xbox issue. Before this latest issue, I spent a lot of time reinstalling the game, wiping/ resetting my xbox just to fix CTD’s. Now Zendesk is telling me that in order to trouble shoot, I need a “Vanilla” copy of the software. Cant have any 3rd party stuff installed that I bought on the MSFS marketplace. Cant have any periferals installed. Then maybe theyll start looking into my issue. Thats more than I want to take on right now. Im finding that Getting MSFS to run well is like a part time job… requiring a lot of patience. I’ve personally ran out.

I’ll be checking back every now and then to see if there was a fix. Hopefully the Sim gets there soon and they dont add too much along the way to futher compound their issues. Maybe some day, Ill buy a gaming (Not CAD designing) PC that might run things better. Until then…

Are MSFS software updates/ fixes randomly sent out or do they have a set schedule? Like Thusdays as something else is updated I believe. If so, Ill check after those updates become available.

Tuesdays, usually, but this is not set in stone.

You should join the Xbox beta crash-collecting test going on now. Just configure your system as below and reproduce a couple of crashes. Then you can quit for a while, and hope your issues will be resolved in a future update.

Thanks. My CTD’s seem to be under control after wiping the xbox clean and doing a fresh reinstall. At least they were under control for maybe 4-6 hours… which was a huge milestone! However my mouse stops working as does the controller and Hotas (Not as often as the mouse). Have you heard if it will allow for reporting other issues like losing connection with periferals? I cant respond to that post. Ill gladly give them the data of it helps… but mine is more periferal related than anytjing else. Ill just do some fun flights instead of study level stuff if it helps.

I wanted to post my “Work Around” for anybody else having this problem with a mouse not workimg. I was running a Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. Two separate wireless receivers in a powered USB hub. Worked fine until the latest 1.26.5.0 update and world update 10. Also have a Hotas One and Xbox controller.

I read a reddit post of a guy who said to start MSFS with the keyboard off and all else including the mouse turned on. It worked. A short while later after turning my keyboard back on, I started having issues again. I disconnected my keyboard and it has worked flawlessly for 3 days.

Forgive me if i’m stating the obvious, but that just sounds like MSFS is struggling to distinguish between the various wireless receivers.

It might not work, but maybe worth a try. Have you tried running Logitech’s G hub, as that might help set them apart?

I think the rule for now is:

XBSX: No 3rd-party add-ons. No planes or airports, not even Asobo/MS-approved ones, or your console might constantly CTD. ‘Vanilla’ MSFS 2020 seems to work fine. Not quite what was promised, and not quite what was paid for.

PC: Go wild, add everything you’ve got. PC Master race, etc.

I see a problem here for MS’s flagship next-gen console. I wonder if MS does?

I have no doubt that MS know exactly what they’re doing and it shouldn’t really be seen as some sort of conspiracy. They have always been clear that one of the objectives of this iteration was to introduce flight simulation to a far wider audience and it is tough to deny that this is exactly what they have done.

I doubt that they ever aimed for the XBOX version to be as powerful/flexible as the PC version and I have yet to see any of their publicity that would explicitly state that it does.

In a nutshell, the XBOX version will provide a very good simulation experience of a detail that might well meet the needs of its users. It might also whet their appetite for the greater levels of flexibility offered by the PC version and effectively act as a stepping stone.

Im running MSFS on the xbox series X. No G Hub available for xbox that Im aware of. Good thinking though. Im not sure why the issue with msfs and mice. Many others have it. I am not a Halo player but tried the same mouse and keyboard combo that MSFS doesnt like and I wiped out the Covenant Army in just a few hours… not one issue. My mouse / keyboard combo used to work with MSFS… then the uodate. My buddy on the series X also has issues with his mouse. Something with MSFS. Hope they fix it.

ah sorry. I’d not seen that we were on the xbox subforum.

I’m guessing you’ve tried getting the mouse and keyboard onto different xbox ports, rather than having them plugged into the same hub?

As you say, it does look like an issue with MSFS distinguishing between the controllers, but I wonder if there might be a more friendly workaround, before Asobo fix it, than just disconnecting one of them?

Good job on dealing with those ■■■■ covenant by the way
