I tried, I really, really tried

No matter what I try to do to fix it, I can’t get this software running even half decently in VR. An RTX 4070ti, all drivers up to date, wired Quest 3 and 32 gigs of ram, should be able to get it working, but it can’t. If it’s not the framerate its the sound cracking up, the graphics looking awful etc. It worked well with 2020! Go figure…

Have you tried the quest3 Wi-Fi and virtual desktop because I use it that way with no issues at all.

I know wired is better but the Wi-Fi is pretty good. At least this way you ruled out your sync cable. What you describe sounds like the sync cable might be the issue

Have you tried the SU2 beta? A lot of VR development is happening in that beta, such as quad views foveated rendering.

Try disabling RBAR either in BIOS or in Nvidia Inspector (for the Microsoft Fight Simulator 2024 profile) - that has been the fix for the really bad stuttering and audio crackling for me - that’s been running a 4090 with a 13700K + Quest 3 (wired).

I haven’t I will try it and report back.

If you would like to receive any reasonable advice you would need to be more specific than “graphics looking awful”.

With SU2, it was changed so if you are using SteamVR, changing render resilotion now works, however, between changes you need to leave VR mode and then go back into it to reload the new res.

The sound cracking is making me think drivers, have you used a program like unigetUI to make sure that all drivers are up to date?

I am flying helicopters down low, like between trees, so I am prioritizing FPS, so I started my settings using Med default, with DLSS in balanced mode, which seems to stress the CPU mostly, and then “tuned” the SteamVR render res to get as sharp as I can with my Quest 3, which stresses the GPU more.

Only options changed off of the default Medium for me are:

  • Terrain LOD 100
    Displacement mapping - On
Trees - High ( am dodging them in the heli, so I need to see their detail )
  • Object LOD - 100
    Windshield effects - High
    Ambient Occlusion - Off
Glass cockpit refresh rate - High
    Road Traffic - Medium
Fauna set - Ultra ( I like seeing all the animals )

The two with the dots seem to be the settings with the largest FPS changes, so just go as high as you dare while maintaining the FPS and quality you want.

I am running the following hardware, so adjust settings as needed:
RYZEN 7 7800X3D
RTX4090
Quest 3 though SteamVR using wireless
