I wished that we didn't need an internet connection

Oh my, That large? unbelievable. That would take me 3 thousand years..

There is a DVD version from Aerosoft but I don’t think it makes sense. This has been burned in August 2020. Since then more less every game file has been changed + a lot of content has been added. You’d need to download those updates anyway.
For playing you don’t internet, you can even cache some areas (which would make them look much better) although ~20mbps is more than enough to play.

I have ~30mbps. Full game download is basically overnight, so it’s not a great problem. In your case it would be more around a full day, but still… worth it.
Imagine how many hours juggling 22 DVD’s would take! and then afterwards you’d probably need to download ~30 - 50GB anyway.

I understand your frustration. For example I wanted to play the new COD, but when I realized it’s a 200+ GB download I gave up. Not worth it. MSFS is (and it’s only half that size  )

So you say that I don’t need internet to play. How do I do that? It usually asks me to put in a dvd. if I’m not connected to the internet.

In the boxed version you need a DVD in the drive. In the “normal” version you just authenticate the first time it runs.

BTW - it’s not about mutliplayer. It’s about the streamed bing maps data. That’s the core selling point of the sim. Else you can just use X-Plane, Prepar3D or FSX.

And how do I do that? How do I authenticate?
