Hi there, I would just like to have the DVD’s instead of an internet connection. I’m not interested in multiplayer.
That’s a lot of DVDs, and a very long install time, plus no live weather, traffic or photogrammetry, would be a downgrade imho, but yes, there should be a way to play offline if slow/no connection
Yes I agree. I have a slow connection and would like to play offline, if needed
what is definition for slow internet.
i have just 40mbps ![]()
Hi, I have about 18mbps, that is slow to what I had before, which was around 75mbps.
You don’t need an internet connection… except to get updates.
Do you have steam?
I have an acoustic coupler plugged into my 2400 Baud modem and I don’t have any problems.
Mind you I’ve been downloading since October so I’ll let you know how I get on.
2400 baud, Oh my and you still can connect and download at that speed?
I think so, I put it in my spare room and I haven’t dared to go in there because I suspect there be dragons and such by now. Or even…spiders. ![]()
With 4.7Go per disk, enjoy your 22 DVD installation !
It’s 2021, the world has changed since FSX ![]()
Yea, that’s what I have been thinking about FSX
you should still be able to play even with photogramery on.
my avg download speed while in big city is 10-15mbps so you should be fine
V.22bis
Blimey, It’s Slow.
I think it would be best if we could launch the game with no internet connection. So annoying to be asked to insert disk when my wifi is not connected…
You would be left with default scenery as we well, with the possible exception of manually downloaded data, and maybe existing data in the rolling cache.
My first modem was 300 baud.
Back in mid-90s, I worked at CompUSA. A customer didn’t have a CD-ROM drive and wanted a clip art package that only came on CDs. He didn’t want to spring for the drive and asked if it came on floppies. I grabbed a stack of 2000 3.5 floppies and showed him what he’d have to deal with. He bought a drive.
Back in those days I forked out £400 for an external drive.
Can’t believe the last one I bought cost £8 off Ebay and has never failed in 8 years.
The whole concept of MSFS depends on internet connection to the servers. The 22 disks is just the core of the sim. Asobo originally said the world database was something like 3.5 petabytes… and I guess growing with each new world expansion.
That’s several hundred thousand DVDs if you want the same world the rest of us are enjoying ![]()
