I7 13700F and RTX 4080 Super?

Hey everyone, I plan on upgrading my RTX 4060 to a RTX 4080 Super. I’m using a i7 13700F CPU at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone else had this setup (i7 13700F and RTX 4080 Super) and could tell me how you are running. I have 32GB Ram. Any thoughts?

I‘m using the 13700k with a 4080 and quite happy with the performance of this combo on a Z690 based mainboard with DDR 4. I would recommend an AIO watercooling solution to get temperature permanent lower than 65C. Overclocking is possible but in my opinion not necessary (now).

Even your old setup is superior to my I7-4790 and RTX 3050

i5 13600k + 4080S here. I can run everything almost maxed out in 2D and at medium/high settings in VR with heavy liners (Quest3). I was able to test 2024 and I could run the sim at Ultra with no issues.

I have a RTX 4080 and i7-13700 on a Z 790 Tomahawk and 32 G RAM with water cooling - still having stutters and freezes sometimes and also terrain morphing. Depends on the aircraft and the surroundings of course , but there will always be an issue…. However, maybe that’s just the way it is and even better rigs with 4090 and stronger CPUs have issues occasionally , I think the forum has plenty of such stories.

Stutters mainly depend on the graphical engine itself and on servers load.

My understanding is that stuttering is more dependent upon the CPU feeding the data to the GPU fast enough for it to render the frame within its window of time (also referred to as a mainthread limited condition). That’s why when you have stuttering it’s recommend to turn down the texture settings, Olod or the resolution. This will then allow the CPU to keep up with the GPU.

Servers not pushing out data to the PC/Xbox fast enough impacts more of the quality of the output (like melted buildings).
